Milo had just sat by the piano and begun playing a music when they heard the first sound: the quiet sound of a door opening. Then he glanced at Manuel - Matt had also chosen to keep his human shell - as the air around them seemed to become heavier. He missed a key on the piano. He realized he was shaken.
The young man composed himself again, repeating to himself that we was much more powerful now. Not enough to defeat the whole clan, it was true. But enough that any of them really knew what to expect from him, if a real confrontation were to happen. Milo had the advantage of knowing his opponent. The sounds got louder. Doors opening in the first floor, steps on the stairs behind them. Whispers followed.
Matt was the first one to turn and face him.
- Hey, Andrej. - He greeted while trying to sound nice. Milo wanted to kick Matt for it.
- Hey... Which one?
The young, melodic and suggestive voice replied. There was no malice there, just confusion and discomfort. The perception that we has not fooling himself and that yes, nobody really knew what to expect, finally made him turn and face the demon.
- Oh, ok! Matt and Milo, got it.
Andrej pointed to each of them correctly after seeing the intense gaze Milo shot at him, a tiny grin on his face. Behind him, four curious familiars.
- Your eyes might look different, but your gaze didn't change. - Andrej was talking specifically to Milo, who just rose a brow, trying to understand what that meant. Matt smirked, getting it perfectly.
- Hi, Andrej. - His tone was monotonous, no effort put into being nice whatsoever. Milo wanted them all to go fuck themselves and was not ashamed of showing it.
- Oh, I got a hi. He got more pleasant with the time, nice! - This time he was talking to Matt, with a bit of irony but having fun with that interaction. Andrej always liked to watch the world burn.
- Good thing we got you on a good mood. - He laughed, the kind of laughter you have when you know you're pissing someone off on purpose. Milo rolled his eyes. - I wouldn't be so confident, Milo. They're about to wake up and Duke has been reading everything you ever published. He's obcessed with you. - His tone was more serious now, switching his gaze from one to another.
- Then he should look for some therapy, obsessions are not good for you. - The younger one said ironically. - We just came here to fix whatever the fuck you got yourselves into, then we're leaving.
His tone then became rude, his gaze more intense. Andrej was a beautiful man, with dark brown hair, almost black, with two curls at the top of his head that looked suspiciously like horns. His eyes were emerald green, so green they felt like them could burn you. Not that Milo was afraid of getting burned, not anymore.
- By the way, what do you need us for? Isn't somebody else that could help?
The demon frowned, looking from one to the other as if to check if they meant it. When he realized they did, that both of them were genuinally curious, he got closer and spoke in a lower tone, as if he was afraid someone could hear them.
- How long has it been since you were in the Occult Realm?
Matt got closer to Andrej, not scared of him in the slightest. Matt turned many years before Milo did, so he had a great deal of experience with everyone else in the coven. Enough time to know Andrej were not half as bad as his species suggested, other than the fact he liked to create stories and lied through his teeth. By getting closer to him, the older sorcerer expected that sign of thrust would calm Milo down, but one look was enough to see it wasn't the case. He then shrugged, thinking about it for a while and looking at Milo, as if to trying to get some insight.
