TW: Violence.

As the flames burst out of Andrej and his screams filled the room, Duke once again froze the clan members in place, except for the demon. A shocked expression was plastered on each of their faces, caused by the outflow of Milo's rage. Even the curious familiars who usually would peak and listen to their conversations went out to hide.

The sorcerer knew Andrej controlled fire. He knew the flames would only be enough to hurt him for a little while before the man got a hold of it. And yet, the screams and the sight of his despair were enough for him to satisfy the anger growing inside of his soul.

When the demon was free from the explosion, his skin singed by the heat, Duke paralyzed him too. His frowned browns and straight, pursed lips showed he was fed up with all that fighting.

- ENOUGH! - His voice echoed through the room, his power sparking in each of their souls as if saying they could cease to exist if Duke merely wished they did.

- I'm not punishing you because you have a reason. It's only fair. - He addressed Milo, running his hands through his own hair, as many strands were out of place after the scream. - But we need to find a better way of dealing with this. So, we are going to sit down like the adults we all are and figure out a way of solving this, ok?

As Duke talked, the other vampires and sorcerers could feel their muscles moving against their will, each of them finding a seat. Duke got Damien and Milo sitting together on another sofa, the furthest away from the chair where Andrej was now seated. Then, he released them again.

- Perfect. So let's begin with the easiest thing, Milo. What do you want from us, now that you know that Andrej was the one who attacked you?

Milo paused for a second, for the first time thinking about what did he want. He would very much like Duke and Andrej to fuck off, but he was not about to run away from them again. As he replayed the demon's words in his mind and pondered over Duke's motives, he felt a cold rush of relief washing over him like water on a hot day.

- I think I'm fine with the outcome we have now.

- What the fuck?! - Damien turned to Milo as if he was personally offended. The vampire was furious: his own clan had murdered his partner just to have him back. It wasn't just Milo's life they messed with. Not only that, but his heart was still racing for having almost been burned to death by Andrej.

The sorcerer then turned to Damien and shrugged, looking into his eyes as he tried to explain.

- Andrej tried to kill me to have you, and yet he just caused us to be around each other the rest of our days. You said it yourself: he's just too pathetic for us to care about him, and the fact I managed to give him a taste of what the turning felt like... Yeah, I'm happy with that. He's stuck seeing me being happy.

Milo smiled gently at Damien and held his hand. It was unnerving, to reach for his hand in public for the first time, the hesitation and the apprehension of being rejected amid the vampire's anger. However, the man froze under his touch, not expecting it to come so soon.

- It doesn't matter what they did. I won. They couldn't get what they wanted from a fucking human, nor a weak-ass sorcerer. So yeah, I prefer having them alive and close so I can remind them how fucking useless they were.

Damien paused for a second, trying to understand that logic.

He turned from Duke to Andrej, seeing how their faces twisted with anger, and realized that Milo might not be so far off with his analysis. Even though the hate still burned in him, and he still felt betrayed by his own kind, in the end, he still had hope of finding his happiness again.
