Your POV

You wake up to the sound of your parents in the kitchen. You suddenly shot up and remembered what day it was today, your first day of college! You look at the time on the lock screen of your phone before letting out a sigh of relief. "Only an hour and 24 minutes until I have to be in class. Thank god!" You think to yourself.

One of your parents was making coffee down stairs in the kitchen. And the other was making breakfast. As the smell of the coffee beans and bacon filled your house, you got out of your bed and got dressed. You feel so excited you can hardly breathe! As you finished getting ready, you put your book bag on and walk down stairs to meet your parents.

"morning!" You said in an excited tone.

One of your parents was preparing your plate for breakfast, and the other was slouching on the counter with cups of coffee for all three of you.

"Oh honey! Good morning! This is so exciting, your first day of college!" P1 says, placing your plate of bacon, eggs, and toast in front of you as you sat down at the table.

You look up at your parents with a wide, proud smile.

"Thank you so much for making breakfast you guys! It looks amazing!" You say, as your other parent brings you your coffee, made just how you like it.

P2 smiles and jokingly says "Its the least we can do for a growing kid like you!"

You give them an offended, yet humoured look. "C'mon! I'm literally leaving to go to college in a few minutes! Y'all are lucky you're still stuck with me. College is for two years and is only twelve minutes away by car!" You say, laughing.

P1 looks over at you and says, "We know sweetheart! We're just excited is all! Our little kid, finally going to their dream college! I can't wait to hear about all of the people you'll meet, what you'll learn, if you end up liking someoooone!!!" P1 says, nudging your shoulder as you eat your breakfast.

You roll your eyes and say in an annoyed tone, "C'monnn! I'm not looking for anything like that and you know it! All I want to do is learn, graduate, and go out into the real world and see what's there for me. And speaking of," you say, looking at the time on the lock screen of your phone, "I better get going."

You finish up your breakfast, rinse your dirty dishes off, and put them in the sink. You give both of your parents a hug and quick kiss on the cheek before gathering your bag(s) for college and grabbing your car keys. You make it to the front door before looking back at your parents and giving them a warm smile. "I love you guys so much. Thank you for supporting me on getting into this college and living out my dream! This means so much to me."

As you leave your house and make it to your car, your parents walk outside on your front porch to wave you off once you drive to campus. Right before you sat down into the driver seat of your car, you make eye contact with your parents. You make one last wave to them and give them one last smile and "Love you!!" before heading to school.

As you got into your car and drove away, you put on one of your favourite playlists. You bop your head to the music and hum along.

"Okay. Just 12 minutes away from home. I can do this. High school was worse. It was like, 30 minutes away I think. And that was if I was speeding too. Yeah. Thank god that ain't my life anymore!" you think to yourself, chuckling.

Just as you were making the turn right before your college was visible to you, you caught something mysterious out of the corner of your eye. Some kind of...... octopus.... Thing? It was a dark blue, goopy figure with tentacle-like limbs on their back. How strange. The figure suddenly whipped their head around and made eye contact with you, almost as if they could feel you stare at them. Just as you go a good glimpse of their face, you could make out that the figure making eye contact with you was

"A SKELETON?!?!"

The stare felt more and more intense now. But then you remembered you were driving. Your car wasn't a big, chunky piece of metal that could maybe survive a fender bender. No no. Your car was small, weak and old. You bought it off of facebook marketplace with the help of your parents for your 17th birthday.

Your fight or flight instincts kicked in and you swerve away as fast as you can. Panic sets in. Your body starts to shake. "Wh-what... What WAS that?!" You say, scared and confused. Just as you look in your rear view mirror. You see their eyes, staring directly behind you. They were sitting in the back seat of your car, right behind you, giving you that terrifying, menacing stare.

Panicking frantically, you scream, swerve your steering wheels to the right closing your eyes and-

CRASH
