This time it was Sam letting me into the house tonight.

"And where have you been?" she whispered and teased at me.

"Just out getting tacos," I tell her.

"With Aisha? Her parents would never let her stay out that late," she says.

I smile and give her a knowing look of it being something else.

"No way! Who were you out with!?" she whispered surprised and proud.

"Just a guy I met at the skate park. I patched up his hands and we talked all night," I say going to the kitchen to get some water because I used mine for Robby, I was really thirsty.

"Oh my God did you get his number?" she asked me while I took a swig of water placing it on the counter.

Wait oh my god. Oh my GOD.

I... I didn't get his number. SHIT!

Sam put the pieces together just by looking at my face of realization. "Leia! You didn't!?"

I put my face in my hands and leaned onto the counter.

"You talked to this guy all night and you didn't get his number!?"

"I forgot," I said speaking into my hands and looked up, "We were talking so much about everything else I forgot to get his number from him," I said disappointed in myself.

"Oh, hun no," Sam said equally disappointed in me now.

"I can kiss this boy goodbye. I'm never gonna see him again now," I sighed drinking more water.

"Don't say that I'm sure he probably skates there all the time," she tried to reassure me.

"Uh probably not he doesn't live around here, said he was just trying out new skateparks in town because he was bored of his normal one," I tell her whining. I'm so stupid I finally meet a nice, cute guy and I don't even get his number; I'm pathetic.

"Well, we leave it up to fate then. If he's really the one he'll come back and you'll see him again," Sam was always so optimistic, she had to be because I never was. But it was one of the things I needed her for to keep me grounded and sane.

"Yeah, up the fate," I finish my water.  "So how did the dinner go with Kyler?".

"Ugh it was fine. I don't know if dad likes him very much though, he left really suddenly right after Kyler went home," Sam said.

"That's weird did Kyler say something to him?" I asked.

"I don't know mom and I only left them alone for a second. Who knows what they could have talked about."

"Well, in the wise words we live by in this house 'We leave it up to fate," I tell her, and we head upstairs to go to bed. I enjoyed little moments like this with Sam. Where I actually felt like she was my sister and not my competition. Where we could talk about anything and not have to worry about others, but it's only when we're alone. Just the two of us.

Dad was being a little weird this weekend, giving Sam and I weird looks and kind of staring off into the distance sometimes. Like he wanted to say something but didn't know if he should say it or not. I was kind of avoiding him, so he wouldn't ask me about anything.

Sam had left as usual to hang out with Yasmine and Moon and that's when dad finally cornered me.

"Hey sweetheart how do you feel about Sam's new friends?" he asked while I was grabbing a snack from the kitchen, damn I knew getting a snack was a risk. Now I wasn't sure if I should tell the truth or not because the truth will definitely make Sam upset, but if he finds out how Sam's friends really are and I don't tell him, I'm the one in trouble.
