Thanksgiving Panic

The couple was getting ready to prepare for their first Thanksgiving together. They'd begun dating right around Christmastime but hadn't spent the holidays together as they were freshly together. They'd spent it with their own respective families and had the evening to themselves.
They could laugh at themselves then because now they are all over each other and madly in love. More than they could ever be. They plan to have Friendsgiving because of the distance they live from one another. Living In California now makes it nearly impossible to return home to Houston for the holidays.
Of course, the friends had all agreed to bring at least one thing for the dinner but everyone was playing hot [potato with whoever would have to deal with the damn turkey. Nicki and Beyonce decided not to because Nicki was already bringing some jambalaya rice and Beyonce is terrible at cooking. Victoria was set with Mac n cheese and Michael's friend was dealing with some cajun ribs and corn. On top of mashed potatoes, Megan and Micheal have to figure out how the hell they are going to make a turkey. First, they were figuring out how they were going to season it and now the two are fighting over how to bake it. They don't know how the hell to use a damn turkey baster.
"Yo!" Michael exclaims as she opens the oven to check on the bird.
"Don't play with me!" she shouts right back. "You ain't put the juices like you was supposed to!"
She huffs and stomps after moving the juices over onto the turkey. Michael just wanted to let it cook through with no interruptions for 3 and a half hours. It astonished Megan once she heard his plan of action. They almost had to get another turkey because he also took it out of the freezer too late. Thankfully they got the bird to unthaw in time. Megan took it upon herself to season it at 3 in the morning and injected it with some marinade an hour into the oven process.
Two strong-willed people never merge well together specifically when holiday seasons roll around.
Meg can't believe the choices this man is making in the kitchen. She tried to put him on cornbread duty but he wanted to add sugar to the mix. 786t5
"How you tellin' me that ion know how to spread some damn juices on a turkey?" He opens his arms as he questions her.
Megan huffs and shakes her head, "Fuck it, you can work on this damn turkey yo damn self and I AIN'T EATIN IT!"
The woman heads to their bedroom and begins to set aside what she will wear. However, she won't deny how upset she is that Michael is taking this attitude with her. She is a very lovey-dovey girlfriend, she hardly gets annoyed but she feels stressed because there is so much different with this year's Thanksgiving.
She plops down on the bed and puts her face in her hands. One tear becomes 10 and after that, she loses count. The woman sobs as she feels almost out of place on this day. She feels almost cornered in her own home. She sniffles from time to time as she makes attempts to collect herself enough so she can get up and sift and search through her drawers and cabinets but she can't collect herself. She just can't.
She thinks it could be family and it could also just be typical holiday panic and mania, faced with some anxiety about her first true holiday with Michael.
"Megan..." Michael enters the room and sees her completely distraught.
He doesn't know what to do or how to react, initially.
"I need your help." He says, crouching down next to the bed, and rubbing her back. "Please."
He flutters his eyelids and puckers his lips but Megan isn't having it. She's supposed to be sad right now. Michael realizes quickly that this isn't a petty reaction anymore. Something is going on.
The two of them have been trying to preplan but it seems like some stuff just didn't work out. They have been at each other's necks over what they should make and whether it should be made out of the box. Megan nearly had a cow when Michael asked if a box of mac n cheese would be good. She was more upset about him suggesting something out of the box than anything. Especially mac n cheese. The stress was overwhelming and becoming a lot especially more when they ket realizing that time was sneaking up on them. Megan can't shut down now at all times.
"Talk to me, please. Don't get all quiet on me."
Megan uncovers her face and sniffles. She is honestly such a sucker whenever Michael babies her.
"Baby, I trust you, I know you can cook the turkey, I know you know how to cook period." He smiles.
"But you are stubborn as fuckkkkkk." Megan draws out.
"So are you, so what are you getting to?" Michael quips right back.
Megan unconsciously traces her finger over and around his lips. She will often do it as they sit quietly at times.
"Let's have a good first Thanksgiving, okay? But for Christmas, I'll just leave that chicken to you."
"Why do you suddenly want to leave it to me?" Megan chuckles as she kisses him.
"Because I think this damn turkey is dry as hell. Help me please."
Megan chuckles, "You said you had it under control, big head."
"Hey, I tried and I can't nail it without you. I've been relaxing I can't be too independent. Truth is I need you. This is a first for both of us. Better to learn with you, than fail on my own."
Megan smiles and nods. She loves this man more than anything. She realizes very quickly when he helps her stand up and wipes her tears.
"Gimme a hug, I'm sorry baby."
"I'm sorry too."
"You need to stop being stubborn."
"YOu love it."
"No, I don't /"
"Yes, you do."
"Yes, I do." He says before planting one last kiss on her lips and proceeding to return so they can finish the turkey up together.

I wrote this on a whim a few hours ago because I had a random idea. Hope you guys like it. Happy Thanksgiving.
