A rich, mouthwatering smell fills the Gilmore Pool House terrace."I smell meat, is that meat?" Inquires Lorelai as they stop momentarily.
The Valet answers, turning away from the charcoal grill to face them, "Why, yes, Miss, it is meat."
"Oh, he called me Miss. There's meat and a Miss, I'm happy."
Walking behind her mother and sister Rory asks, "What's the occasion?"
"Well, I thought we might like some appetizers with our cocktails tonight." Richard comes out of the pool house, a tray of drinks in his hands.
"Would we ever." Says Lottie as she sits between Lorelai and Rory, her grandfather across from her.
"The first batch is ready, sir."
"Wonderful, on the table please." He hands Rory her drink, then gives Lottie her old fashioned, and to Lorelai a martini glass and one for himself.
"Mm, God it smells good." Lorelai arranges her napkin on her lap and leans over to take a freshly served skewer.
"I love a good steak on a stick. Or any type of steak really." Comments Lottie.
Richard agrees, "Me, too."
"We should form a club." Suggest Rory.
Lorelai looks like she's waited all her life for this, "Steak-On-A-Stick club."
"We could have t-shirts made up."
"I've never seen you wear a t-shirt, Grandpa." Laughs Lottie.
"Well, I've just never found a proper occasion."
Lorelai raises her glass, "Hmm. To the proper occasion."
"I'll drink to that." They toast.
Emily storms in, a fury in heels, "I knew I smelled something. You're barbecuing!"
"So what?"
Oh, no.
"So what? The agreement was the girls have drinks with you and dinners with me!"
The three Gilmore girls hurry to grab a skewer before it's too late and make themselves smaller in their seats.
"We are having drinks - drinks and appetizers."
She screams, her face distorted with anger as she points down, "Those are not appetizers! Those are skewers!"
"Little skewers." Intervenes Lorelai.
The twins try to help adding, "Little, tiny skewers."
"This is not tiny!" She rips a skewer from Lorelai's hand as she's about to bite.
