Charlotte L. Gilmore was never late; except when she was. Like right now.

Lottie runs all the way to the pool house and finds that everyone is already there, she puts on her heels back before knocking on the door, her grandfather's valet named Robert let's her in, a little out of breath, "I'm sorry I'm late."

She goes directly to the couch where she sits next to her mother, not even taking off her coat, "What did I miss?"

"Nothing, just your grandfather and his special friend living together."

"Oh, nice. Very modern of them." She says in a mix of sarcasm and a dash of just the right amount of sincerity to leave both Gilmore girls wondering if she actually believed Lorelai. She takes the drink being offered to her -an old fashioned- by Robert with a quick thank you and a smile.

"All right, we have cheese, we have drinks." He puts down the food tray on the small table while he sits down, "And Lottie, there you are, welcome."

"Thanks, I'm sorry I'm late grandpa."

"It's alright, I got your message this afternoon, everything resolved?"

Her mother looks at her in question but this is something between her and her grandfather only, "Yes, everything is perfect."

"Very well, do you each have a coaster?"

"Kierkegaard." Says Lorelai with a smile. Followed by Rory's, "Schopenhauer." And Lottie's, "Heidegger."

"Excellent."

There's a knock on the door, Robert opens and asks "Yes?"

"Dinner is served in the main house."

"I will tell Mr. Gilmore." The valet walk the small distance separating him and Richard, "Dinner is served in the main house."

"Oh, but we haven't finished our drinks yet." Says Lorelai.

The maid intervenes, "But the madam is ready now." She takes off as Richard stands up.

"Well, ladies, it's been a lovely evening. Until next week..."

The three of them stand up, "Hold on, dad." Says Lorelai drinking her glass entirely, Lottie mimics her mother's actions.

Rory adds, "Thank you, grandpa."

"Yeah, thanks for the cheese, dad." Lorelai is already at the door.

Rory and Lottie stop to kiss their grandfather on the cheek, "Bye, grandpa. I'll call you tomorrow for the uhm, thing."

"Of course, Lottie. Have a great first day."
