Growing bonds.

:no one's pov:
The days seemed to pass ever so slightly, rengoku slowly grew closer to uzui as uzui did the same.
They spent most of their time together as the first week of vacation passed by, master called the hashira in and said they can another week off because there was no notice of threat.
Uzui often made breakfast for rengoku and his wives and talked with them all day laughing and bringing them out to see all kinds of things like a butterfly garden.
Out of the blue uzui waives received a message from relatives, they had also left their clans and lived no far away, they wanted to reach out and see how uzui wives where, and even offered to let them over to visit and catch up and maybe spend time.
So uzui wives begged and kept asking if they could go, uzui was worried but eventually agreed as he helped them pack and made sure to put some weapons and small TNT just in case of a emergency.
Uzui made sure they had a crow and everything prepared in case something happen.
Uzui:are you all sure you wanna do this ?
Uzui had his arms crossed as he gave all three of his wives a worried look.
Suma:yes ! Do not worry tengen-sama, makio and me will always update you, and if something happen-
Makio: we got it covered ! No need to worry ! We've taught worse
Hinatsuru: indeed ! And it will be fun!
Uzui just sighed and smiled giving each wife a small kiss on their heads.
The three smiles as they all waved goodbye leading off to a trail.
Uzui waved back wishing them luck and safety as he smiled not wanting to worry any of them.
Soon the girls had gone as uzui let out a sight and waddled back inside, he sat down and poured himself a cup of tea.
Rengoku soon woke up confused that uzui wives where nowhere around since he hadn't known of their plans.
Rengoku:ah- my flashy friend, are you ok ? Where are the girls ?
Rengoku sat down across from uzui, uzui sighed as he poured rengoku a cup and looked up at him resting his head on his hand.
Rengoku: my lovely wives and me received a message from old relatives, and since I could be called in my master for anything anytime it's not safe for me to run off with them.
Rengoku frowned a bit and nodded listening closely.
Uzui: The girls wanted to see these relatives since it's been a while, so I said it's ok and they where sent off just now, I apologize you didn't get to say goodbye to them, they where in a rush and did not wish to wake you.
Rengoku felt bad but kept his spirits up and smiled sipping his tea.
Rengoku: do not worry my flashy friend !! Your wives are amazing and it's combat and I am sure they could protect themselves, and at least your not alone here ! I'll be here, do not worry !! I understand they needed to hurry ! I'll be second to say hello when they return!
Uzui smiled as sighed then gave a bit of a confused looks at Rnegoku.
Uzui:why second ? Why not first?
Rengoku smiled as he sipped some more tea and crosses his arms giving the biggest brightest smile he could.
Rengoku:you will be the first ! I would never think to take that from you !
Uzui was surprised by this and smiled laughing a bit at rengoku cheerfulness.

So just like that they spent the rest of the day together, it soon got dark as it was now time to rest up.
Rengoku:ah it's getting late maybe it's about time to rest-
Uzui: oh !! I got us some food the other day !! If you are hungry.
Uzui quickly cut rengoku off as he got up and rushed to get the food.
And just like that uzui kept finding ways to avoid sleeping and kept coming up with distractions.
:6 hours later nearly sundown/midnight:
Rengoku:my flashy friend, I can't help but feel like you are trying to avoid something, if you don't mind- would you like to tell me ?
Uzui stayed silent as he eventually just sprung up from his seat and fake yawned and stretched.
Uzui:man it's getting late, I think your right- it's about time we get some rest!
Uzui quickly cleaned up as he ushered rengoku away to his room and left to his own room.
Uzui laid there trying to just fall asleep as he closed his eyes and listen into everything around him even the droplets one by one hitting the ground, uzui then heard a small noise from inside the house, it sounded like water but then he could hear faint sniffling, that's when he remembered the other night, he looked over to the clock, it was 4:35, time had seemed to pass so fast.
Uzui decided on getting up and quietly walked over to rengoku room
And knocked on the door gently to not spook him.
Rengoku:come in-
He said in a whisper (it came out as a normal volume 🍡) and uzui opened the door and went inside, he seen rengoku curled up snuggling with just a few tears in his eyes as he was clinging onto a pillow.
Uzui:..are you ok? You can talk to me if you want
Uzui stayed calm as he sat beside rengoku and gently wiped a tear that fell down his cheek.
Rengoku just sniffles and started quiet as he unconsciously leaned his head onto uzui shoulder and closed his eyes.
Rengoku:..I just hate storms- it brings back bad memories from home..
Uzui had only heard rengoku speak of home a few times, most things where about his baby brother but one time, rengoku had gotten drunk and uzui walked him home that night.
Rengoku spoke of how sometimes he feared his father, and how he missed his mother and the old memories of their home.
Rengoku said he felt his home was no longer home, it was just a house.
Rengoku stopped speaking after that although he did eventually state that he loved and cherished his father and would always be proud to be his son, he never again spoke of his father, neither had he ever gotten drunk.
Uzui felt sad at the thought of rengoku possibly getting hurt and he pulled rengoku closer without much thought and hugged him.
Rengoku had more tears and lean into uzui hug and calmed his breathing and closed his eyes just listening to uzui heartbeat.
Uzui:..kyo , if you ever need someone to talk to- I don't mind lending a ear, you are my best and closest friend, and it pains me to see someone so amazing and strong be so sad and helpless, so please, if you can/want, tell me so I can help in some way.
Rengoku looked up sniffling and looking into uzui eyes, uzui couldn't help but smiling thinking he looked like a sad owl.
Rengoku nodded and looked back down closing his eyes.
Rengoku:..I just couldn't help but think of my family, I miss them, and I miss senjiro, I was just hopping he was ok- I'm scared of storms.
Rengoku half lied as he didn't feel yet ready, uzui understood that and knew rengoku was lying since he was fidgeting with his own flame colored hair like he always does when he lies.
Uzui just pats his head and let him calm down and cling to him.
Then a idea popped up in his head, a "temporary" idea.
Uzui:hey ! How about we have a kind of sleepover? We can stay in my room! That way neither of us feel Alone!
Rengoku smiled as he tilted his head like a owl looking up at uzui.
Rengoku: you felt alone too? Is that why you kept distracting me from sleeping?
Uzui realized his mistake as he was slightly embarrassed and just sighed accepting his fate.
Uzui:yeah- I just, normally have at least one of my wives to sleep next to me, I'm use to having someone to cling onto and cuddle, makes me feel like I'm not alone.
Rengoku smiled and nodded as he got up and grabbed his blankets and pillows.
Rengoku: sleepover it is !!!

:1 hour later:
It was already late so they talked for a bit but eventually agreed on sleeping, uzui Kaye's down on one side of the bed and rengoku payed on the other, both faced a opposite directions as they turned the lamps off.
It had been just a little and uzui was half asleep, and with Cary little thought and lack of sleep he rolled over and grabbed rengoku pulling him
Close and cuddling onto him as a small smile appeared on his face as he drifted to sleep slowly.
Uzui:goodnight kyo
Kyo was a nickname he had given rengoku a while back, but he rearmed called him it, only in specific times when he felt close enough in spirit to rengoku.
Uzui had only even used it if rengoku was ok with it, rengoku loved the nickname, and when he heard it he couldn't help but feel butterflies in his stomach, it didn't help that uzui had wrapped his arms closely around his waist and cuddles him closer.
Rengoku was flustered but happy, he couldn't understand this feeling but he enjoyed it, it felt refreshing.
Rengoku smiled as he flipped over nuzzling into uzui and falling to sleep not long after.

( this was vary gay, if it sucked it's because at some point writers block kicked in 😭, but anyways.
