(Sorry it's been a while since I've updated, I'm just- dealing with some things /nothing bad/ and school, but I wanted to update this for those who've wanted a update!! Thank you all and I hope you enjoy!!)

It had been nearly a week or more since Rengoku was admitted to the medical estate, uzui feared to visit, despite wanting to be by Rengoku side he was afraid of watching Rengoku draw his last breath in that hospital bed, it would be his fault after all- he should've warned the master to send someone soon, he could've done so much more.
To him it was as if he had blood staining his hands again, it bugged him endlessly, he didn't talk with shinobu for that entire time afraid that she would inform him Rengoku had died, uzui had heard of the state he was in when he was brought back and that alone was enough.
Uzui felt shame not at least visiting or asking but he couldn't bring himself to do it, he had spent his time on missions or around his wives trying whatever he could to ignore his worries and fears.
Endless thoughts swarmed his mind, he could only think of Rengoku- what was the last thing he said to Rengoku? Why couldn't it have been him to suffer this, why must it be rengoku?
He stayed up late that night curled up, his wives where outside enjoying the night air, knowing they often did this he did not mind, but as he laid there in bed he closed his eyes remembering the night him and Rengoku cuddled, the warmth and happiness it brought to him to have someone he loved so close, it's just how he felt with his wives, he was sure- Mitsuri was right.
That morning uzui woke up unsure of what to do, he got up knowing his wives would be away for a bit since they normally like to take a morning walk, so he got up deciding to maybe eat and have some sake to get his mind off it.
(No ones pov)
The Hours had seemed to pass since uzui wives had left, he had spent a while sitting and thinking only on how rengoku was doing and what happened after he returned.
Uzui tried to drink his worries away slightly, he didn't wanna drink to get drunk so he only took sips here and there to calm his nerves.
As uzui sat in his home in silence he heard a knock at the door, he sighed believing it was possibly one of the hashira like giyuu who must have come to check on him.
Tengen got up and quickly walked over to the door, he slid it open fast speaking before the other person could.
Uzui: if you've come here to check on me again I swear- I've already explained to you guys that I'm fin- tengen opened his eyes, his eyes then widen at the sight of a familiar red and orange haired man, Uzui heart both stopped and skipped a beat as his breath was taken away. Uzui fell silent unable to even babble a word as he let out a shaky breath.
Rengoku:sorry if this is a bad time- I just..wanted to check on you
Rengoku spoke with his gentle warm smile as he rubbed the back of his neck slightly.
It fell silent between them for what seemed like hours.
Rengoku: aha! Sorry then this must be a awkward time- I'll just come back late-
Rengoku was cut off by as sudden tight embrace, Uzui wrapped the shorter male in a tight but delicate hug almost as if he was scared to break him, as if Rengoku was like fragile glass.
Uzui eyes teared up as he wrapped his arms around the man pulling him closer resting his head in the man's messy hair.
Uzui:..please...don't-
Uzui tried to speak but his voice cracked as he begin to tear up,
Uzui:...don't- scare me like that- ever again..
Uzui gently spoke his voice cracking as he swallows back his tears, he pulled the man closer into the warm embrace making sure to remain gentle with him.
Rengoku couldn't help but be slightly flustered by this, his heart swelled in happiness as he also teared up a bit, Rengoku smiled gently as he returned the embrace allowing himself to be consumed in the warmth of Uzuis hug
Rengoku:it is ok, I'm here to stay..please do not be sad!
Rengoku cheerfully spoke with a small laugh to lighten the mood, Uzui let out a sigh of relief as he nodded in response but didn't break the warm embrace as he nuzzled his head closer to the man's unusual fire colored hair cherishing this moment deeply.

(I apologize for not updating in so long, I've been having lots of family problems along with problems at school, on top of that I'm 🥁🥁🥁——- a theatre kid 💁‍♂️👯🙌🏽, so I've been busy with that as well, I hope you all enjoy this new update, I'll try updating more regularly if possible, thank you all for the support and I wanna thank a curtain person for their suggestions /you know who you are 👯❤️/ and I hope you are having a amazing night/day)
