When lunch finally came after three periods and a whole bunch of assignments I was tired of giving introductions. I shoved everything into my locker except for the two most important things that I never, EVER let anyone touch. My journal and inside is a necklace. It was my Mom's necklace and she gave it to me before she died three years ago. It was a red rectangular gem with little crystal like gems around the red gem.

I walk down to the cafeteria hoping no one will notice me because I'm not in the mood for talking.

"Hey Aliyah!" I hear a familiar call to my left and I turn to see Ben with his arm wrapped around the girl from earlier sitting at a table that appears to be the "cool kids" table because all the jocks and cheerleaders were crowded at that one table. "come join us!" he says gesturing for me to come over.

I shake my head I'm good. It doesn't look like there's room either." i give him a small smile and turn to keep walking.

"No it's fine there's plenty of room! come join us!" a welcoming voice says and I turn back to them to see its Ben's girlfriend/

"It's fine." I protest.

"Oh come on. Please?" She asks with a smile.
"Fine." i say giving in and walk over to their table. "I'm ALiyah as you may know already I seem to be the talk of the school."

"I'm Brianna. It's nice to meet you." She sticks out her hand and I get a little startled not use to people shaking my hand. She giggles. "I'm not going to bite." I shake her hand lightly.

"Nice to meet you too." i say with a shy smile.

"Where's your lunch?" Ben asks then takes a bite of his apple.

"I don't eat lunch. I don't really need it." I reply.

"Seriously?" He says sounding very surprised. Brianna giggle at him.

"Well it was great meeting you Aliyah." She says facing me again. "But i need to go. I'll see you later." She gives Ben a quick kiss on the lips and stands up then walks away. Ben turns back to me once she leaves.

"She nice." I say not sure what else to say. He just nods as he eats his lunch. I sit there awkwardly not knowing what to do.

When he finishes his lunch he wipes his face and throws it in the near by trash can. "So how is your first day here at Los Angeles High School?" He asks sitting down next to me.

"Lots of introductions and homework." I say fiddling with the corner of my journal.

"What's that?" He asks reaching over to grab it. My eyes widen and I snatch it away before he could get even closer.

"None of your business." i snap my defense coming up even more.

"Oh sorry." He says seeming a little hurt by it.

"I need to go." I say standing up and leaving the cafeteria before he could say anything else.

I run down the hall tears burning my eyes. I run into the nearest room that happens to be the janitor's closet. I sit against the door and hold my knees to my chest and begin to cry silently. "Stupid. Why did you do that? He probably hates you now." I think to myself. "It's your first day and you already made someone hate you."
