When I'm in my room I try to finish my homework but I can't concentrate. I keep thinking about what Vanessa said. 'Did I like Ben? Did I want to ask him out if he wasn't dating Brianna?"
I shake my head pushing it out of my mind. "No." i say under my breath. "I don't like Ben I never did and I never will." I sigh and after a little bit I finally start on my homework again.
After about another hour I finally finish my homework.
I hear the front door close and I run down the stairs. "Mom?' I ask as shes walking into the kitchen.
"Oh Aliyah! how was your first day of school?" She asks with a warm smile.
"It was good." I reply as I sit at the table.
"She met a boy." Vanessa says with a small smirk.
"OH really?" My mom asks seeming surprised.
"It's not what you think it is." I say quickly. "I barely know him and he just helped me finding all my classes."
She nods. "He sounds like a nice boy. What's his name?"
"Ben."
"I'll have to meet this 'Ben' kid." She says obviously glad I talked to someone.
I laugh lightly and watch her as she takes out some noodles and starts boiling some water.

After dinner I excuse myself and put my dishes in the sink. I walk up to my room and flop down on my bed and stare at the ceiling. For some reason Ben kept coming into my head and I couldn't push him out. Maybe I did like him a little but we're barely even friends. I don't know anything about him but it seems like he knows everything about me.
All of a sudden my phone buzzes and I look at the screen. 'That's weird.' I think. 'It's an unknown number.' I open it up and read the text.
"Stay away from Ben if you know what's best for you, Aliyah."
I stare at the screen totally confused and hurt that someone who knows me just threatened me and I have no idea who they are.
"Who is this?" I reply after a bit.
