We stared at the rusty poll and the old, dry bone. taking a moment to process.  "...did- ...did we walk in a circle?"  I asked, looking around for any turn in the long line of very green grass, but it was completely straight.  "No?"  Kayla glanced back.  "let's just go, it's probably a coincidence."  she stuttered, then traveling down the field, me following close behind.

The shadows curled around us like a blindness effect. it was difficult to see even 5 feet in front of us, the half-moon still shined bright, the stars slowly coming out from behind as it moved. time was passing, finally. a sudden anger ran through me, I clinched my fists.  "WHERE DOES THIS FOREST END?!" I spoke loudly, my arms shook as I looked down. Kayla stared blankly at me, her mossy green eyes looked cold and empty as I yelled out of frustration. She spoke with an echo, her voice getting distorted, like speaking through an old, broken microphone, "Don't be upset." it said flatly, with a chuckle that made chills run down my spine.  "You won't have to worry about something so STUPID."  its eyes became fully white, only the red, pulsating veins added color to the void-like spheres. My eyebrows furrowed; my teeth clinched as my lips curled back in shock.

With my heart beating fast, I saw the moon suddenly stop its slow descent. It started to go back up, resetting to the top as I ran. I ran so slowly, I felt my legs dragging me down, like they were only just too long. my steps slowed with each one, I could feel my arms shaking harshly. I couldn't bring myself to look back at Kayla, it wasn't her, it wasn't. It couldn't be. I fell to the ground, still scrambling away with all my strength, which now, wasn't much. I felt a cold, sharp hand on my back, digging in. I screamed, turning around while still on the ground, kicking upwards with all my might.  "GET AWAY FROM ME!"  I closed my eyes, not being able to look it in the eyes.  "BAILEY."  I heard Kayla yell, but I didn't stop kicking. I scratched the air above me, opening my eyes widely as I realized I wasn't hurting it. I saw Kayla standing to the side, staring with concern. She looked the same as beforehand, her green eyes glowed like a cat. She brought a hand to my shoulder, speaking,

"ARE YOU OKAY? WHAT ON EARTH HAPPEND"

I laid silently, wondering who or what I could trust before answering.
