Khaos’s P.O.V

"Goodbye," and she storms off.

Unlike the first time we met, this time she doesn't look back. I behaved and did behave like a devil; she thinks I am.

Her parents are indebted to my parents, true, but they don't owe much of anything now.

Rather than dragging the whole thing out, I did it in an easier way, and her parents are completely fine with it.

In fact, they even asked me to show her the documents to convince her. I have no idea why they are hurrying so much to marry her, but it works in my favor, so I think it's okay.

There were many hindrances that I had to clear before, like removing her ex-boyfriend Jake from the picture.

I did lose some money in the process of making his company bankrupt and then looking for a potential deal so that he could marry someone else and leave my Xeria alone.

He was quite heartbroken, but I think money soothes and heals every pain and wound.

Speaking of my parents, I think the only good thing they did was offer their help to Xeria's parents.

I even don't know where they are now. Thanks to them for abandoning me.

I only got to know about all this arrangement when, two years ago, Xeria's parents brought it up.

I wasn't even a bit interested, but after a year, when I crossed paths with her, it all changed.

My parents are with their perfect family, and I don't even care; all I want now is her.

She did look beautiful, as always, with her beautiful emerald eyes and how perfectly that dress suited her.

A person can't just change his nature over time. I want her, but on my own terms, I'm not going to put on a gentlemanly act. I have never been one, so why pretend now?

"Evander is dropping her off; she doesn't look too impressed to him, but she does look like she can strangle someone right now—according to Evander, that is." Calix, my other secretary informs, standing behind me.

"We should also leave; ask him to come see me after he drops her off at her house safely." I get up from the chair and leave when my phone begins to ring.

"Yes, Mr. Louis," I answer the call.

"How did it go, Mr. Khaos?" he asks me.

"We didn't eat anything; I guess we filled our share by arguing, and she has accepted the engagement, as you and your wife predicted." I answer, pressing the elevator's button.

"We feel so bad for doing this, but we didn't have any other options. I hope that you will take care of our daughter like we have done until now."

"Don't disappoint us." He says or orders me, I don't know, "Don't worry, I won't." I answer, stepping inside the elevator followed by Calix.

"We may as well make the public announcement," he suggests.

"Ok, schedule it the way Xeria wants, and then inform me about it."

"Good night, Mr. Louis," and I hang up the phone.

"I don't think you left quite a good impression on Ms. Xeria," Calix says.

"At least I bought the ring by myself," I reply, walking out of the elevator and leaving for an empty place—my house, which was never a home.

Opening the door and walking in is like walking inside a movie set. Everything is so artificial, with no homey feeling. It has always been like this.

Ding!

Opening the message, I see a photo of Xeria's hand with the ring on her finger. The emerald that was on the ring is not prettier than her eyes.

Ding!

"You will regret this ;)"
-Xeria.

After reading the message, my lips curled up into a smile, and for the first time, walking into this house didn't feel empty.
