Xeria’s P.O.V"Get it over with Xeria," Quentin grunts, and I just smile like an idiot. After yesterday's incident, I am really in high spirits, and the same goes for Khaos.
Though he had to leave early this morning, it was clearly visible from his face that his employees were going to get an increment today.
"Something happened," touching the chain on my neck, I say this sentence for the tenth time since I called him.
"What?" he asks, clearly irritated.
"I and Khaos," I drag my words, and Quentin just controls himself from hanging up the call.
"We kissed," I declare, and the line goes silent.
"Hello, Quentin," I say, to confirm if he is there. It's not that big of a deal, is it?
"I'm happy if you're happy," he replies.
"Yes, I'm happy. It's been a month since our marriage, and I guess things are going pretty smoothly." I answer, actually calculating the time; at first, I didn't even think that it would last for more than a week.
"Anyways, how's Aunt?" he asks, clearing his throat.
"She's sleeping; I'm with her right now." I answer, taking a glance at mom, who is peacefully sleeping.
"Anyways, Xeria, mom and dad want you and Khaos to come for lunch. Willie is introducing her boyfriend too, so please come over," he says, giving me spicier news than mine.
"Wait, boyfriend, but is it ok for Khaos to come?" I ask him; obviously, I'm more than happy with intruding on their family dinner, with Willie introducing her boyfriend, but keeping Khaos's social skills in mind, I can't promise on his behalf.
"No, Willie is also fine with it; she's busy these days; that's why she didn't inform you herself; she only asked me to invite you two." He assures me.
"Ok, I will ask Khaos and inform you." I say hanging up the call and then calling Khaos.
"Yes, Beryl," his voice says through the phone.
"Are you busy?" I ask him to get up and walk out of the room.
"No, what is it?" he says, and I hear Evander's voice saying in the background, where are you going, sir?
"Quentin's mom has invited the two of us to their place for dinner; are you free tomorrow?" I ask him.
"Sure, I will send Calix to pick you," he says, even without taking a second.
"No, don't bother sending him; I will be fine by myself; just get your house cleaned, ok?" I say, and this time the line goes silent.
"Sure, Beryl," he answers, and I hang up the call.
After ending the call, I come back to mom's room to see that she's awake.
"Do you need something, mom?" I asked, closing the door behind me. "I'm fine, dear," she answers, getting up.
"Mom, did you ask Aunt Tatiana to invite us?" I ask her with a suspicious gaze because Aunt Tatiana and Uncle David dropped by a week before to check on mom and dad.
"No, you idiot," she says, shaking her head slowly.
"So, are you and Khaos going?" she asks.
"Yes, tomorrow, and you must already know about Willie's news," I ask her excitedly. Mom was my first gossip partner, even before Quentin.
"Yes, though I don’t know much about him but he sounds like a nice boy. Update me after you meet him," she says, giving me a thumbs up.
"Yes, captain," I say, and we both burst into laughter.
After dad arrived, I departed for Khaos's place. It's my first time going to his place, and I'm quite excited.
Although Potato was pretty sad, when I informed him that I wouldn't be able to take him with me, he understood and went to mom's place with Aunt Nora instead.
"Good evening, ma'am," Calix greets me as I walk out of the airport. "Good evening, Calix." I greet him back with a smile.
"Ma'am sir got caught up in a meeting; otherwise, he himself would have come to pick you up," he says as we get inside the car.
"It's ok, Calix," I assure him, and he drives off towards Khaos's, or should I say our home?
Calix handed me over the keycard as we stood outside the doors to Khaos’s penthouse.
"I will be leaving now; if you want anything, please let me know," he says, and storms off. He is always in a hurry.
Smiling, I open the door. The whole place is black and gray, classic Khaos. As I walk through the place, I don't see anything—no pictures, no personal decorations—the ones that are there, I'm sure that they were picked by someone else.
Again, I see a note on the kitchen bar counter. "Beryl, take a rest in our room; I will return as soon as I can." Ok, thank you; otherwise, I would have used the guest room.
Stepping inside the room, I see our pictures from the wedding and engagement on the walls.
Did he put them in today?
But judging from their placement, it couldn't be from today. Ok, so he wasn't lying when he said that he wanted things to work between us. After looking around for a while, I lie down on the bed and didn't even realize when I drifted into sleep.
"Beryl."
"Beryl."
I hear Khaos call me, and I whine, pulling the duvet over my face.
"Get up; you haven't eaten anything," he says, shaking me.
Groaning, I get up to see Khaos looking at me like I looked at Potato when he was a puppy.
"Welcome home," he says, engulfing me in a warm hug, and I just melt in his hug.
"Now, get up; have your dinner," he says, but I just hold on to him, not letting go of him. Sighing, he picks me up like I'm a baby, surprising me.
"What are you doing?" I ask, wrapping my legs around his waist.
"Now you are awake!" he laughs, and he carries me downstairs to the dining table. He sets me down on the chair and sits beside me.
"Guess these things won't repeat if Aunt Nora joins us in the future," he says, and I roll my eyes.
"Potato first," I say, looking at our dinner for the night.
"Willie's boyfriend will be joining us tomorrow, so be nice to him," I inform him as I set our plates.
"Yes, ma'am," he chuckles, and I frown, stuffing my mouth with the food.
"How do you like this place?" he asks, wiping the sauce off my lips.
"It's nice, but when did you place the pictures?" I ask him after chewing my food.
"After the wedding, I selected pictures, and Evander helped me with them," he answers, pouring water for me into the glass.
"Why are you not eating?" I ask him because he is just watching me eat, which is quite embarrassing.
"The meeting was in a restaurant," he informs me, and I just nod my head.
"You can sleep on the bed today." I reward him for his promising efforts, and he nods in response.
