Uzi leaped from table to table, up in the air, slowly defying gravity and making her way to Doll. She flung herself off the table as Doll flung more knives her way. Uzi kicked at them, defecting both, one of which clattered to the ground uselessly, the other of which spun back and sliced a little bracelet off Doll's wrist that Uzi hadn't noticed.

She glanced at her wrist, surprised, before looking up just in time for Uzi to deliver a wicked kick to her face.

Doll fell to the ground, unconscious.

Uzi walked up to her cautiously and gently nudged the Russian drone's head. She didn't budge. N walked over from where the table had slammed him into the wall, adjusting his hat.

"You're a fantastic fighter, Uzi!" He said enthusiastically.

"Oh, uh, thanks, I guess," she muttered, feeling stupid. She knew her cheeks were burning and as much as she didn't want to care, she wanted to bury her head in the snow outside until her stupid face behaved itself.

"Huh. I didn't know she was homicidal." Lizzie said as she and V walked up behind N.

V looked unimpressed. "She only killed like, three people. I've killed way more without sorcery." V said, tossing her short hair.

"Whatever, freak," Lizzie said, crossing her arms, "you didn't kill my dad, so we still have to do school. Thanks for nothing."

V shrugged. "Point me in his direction; I could use a snack."

Uzi stamped her foot. "No more murder. We still have a mystery to solve."

"Yeah? What mystery is that?" Lizzie asked, leaning her weight on one leg.

"Not one you'll be solving." Uzi snapped. "You didn't help."

"Really? And V did?" Lizzie retorted. "All she did was get stabbed three times by a metal pole."

"I think that makes me more than helpful. I distracted her." V grumbled, rubbing her midsection where she'd been impaled. Uzi rolled her eyes.

"As much as it pains me to admit it, V is probably an asset. Emphasis on the probably, because you did just try to kill my entire class. Not that I care, most of them had it coming, but still." Uzi retorted. She stepped over Doll's unconscious body and picked up the leather bracelet.

"I wonder where that goes?" N asked, looking at the key hanging off the end of it. Uzi was too busy looking at the tiny metal charm that was attached to the other end. A tiny hectagon made of silver metal with a tiny black skull inside a triangle etched on it. Identical to the one she wore around her neck. How did Doll get one like this? She touched the choker around her neck, making sure her mother's charm hadn't fallen off and been picked up by Doll.

"Uh, are we going to stand here all day or are we going to find out where that key goes to?" V asked, watching Uzi with a bored expression.

"Idiots." Lizzie mumbled.

"What was that?" V asked sharply.

"Id-ee-uhtz." Lizzie spelled out, tilting her head with each syllable. "Idiots. Noun. Three stupid people who are standing in front of me like idiots."

Uzi rolled her eyes. "First of all, that's a circular definition. Second of all, do you have something you want to tell us or are you just going to make fun of us?"

Lizzie sighed dramatically. "The key goes to Doll's house. I've been there before, but never inside. She never lets me in." Lizzie made an obnoxious face that made Uzi want to punch her.

"Fine then. I guess you're coming. Lead the way." Uzi grumbled through clenched teeth.

Uzi let everyone start walking before she did. Lissie started walking away, followed closely by V. N followed closely behind, and Uzi fell into step behind him. She couldn't stand being anywhere near Lizzie.

She didn't notice Doll until it was too late.

———

The sound of a gunshot reverberated through the otherwise quiet gym. N whirled around, expecting to find Uzi dead on the ground with a bullet hole in her head.

Uzi had fallen to the ground, propping herself up on one arm with the other stretched out in front of her. The same symbol Doll had used to attempt to murder V.

A bullet hung, suspended in the air, held up by the purple glyph.

"W-what?" Uzi asked, looking as surprised as N felt.

Doll, who apparently wasn't as knocked out as they'd previously thought, froze. "I- I'm sorry. If I find what I'm looking for, I'll help you, too."

"Wait, what?" Uzi asked, flinching as the bullet flung itself away from them in an exaggerated loop-de-loop. Doll shot one last pity-filled glance at Uzi before teleporting away in a flash of red light.

N helped Uzi up. She glanced at him in thanks before doubling over, grabbing at her face, and hissing in pain.

"What's wrong? N asked, putting a hand tentatively on her shoulder, unsure of how she'd react. Remarkably, she didn't swat his hand off but looked up at him through her hands.

Her eyes had completely been replaced by the glyph. V let out a sharp gasp, followed by the sound of her exchanging her hands for blades.

Uzi stood up quickly, shoving N's hand off her shoulder and backing up, continuing to cover her face with her hands.

"Uzi!" He cried as she backed towards the door.

"Stop! Stay back!" she cried. "I don't want to hurt you!" When N took another step forward, Uzi flung out her hand to keep him away, but the purple symbol appeared between her fingers. "W-what?" her voice shook.

An explosion of air where the symbol had appeared blew N, V, and Lizzie back a few steps. N braced himself and looked back up at Uzi. The symbol between her fingers had turned a foreboding red.

A red, wet, flesh-like growth had sprouted from the ground in front of Uzi. Her eyes had replaced the symbol again, full of terror and confusion. She tried to pull her hand away from the symbol, and with some difficulty ripped her hand away from it. As soon as she did, the advancing flesh growth seemed to die, turning gray and falling to the ground.

"Just let me leave!" Uzi cried, her voice shaking "I don't want to hurt you!"

"Uzi, I trust you! You wouldn't hurt me!" n countered, taking another step forward.

"Well, I'm gonna hurt her!" V barked, swinging her blades up by her face and startling Lizzie, "No puppet of Cyn's gets to come to this planet and live!"

Well, that's mildly offensive.

Not the time, mystery voice. He scolded it, not really listening to what it said.

Uzi's eyes widened and she backed away. Her eyes glanced at N sadly before disappearing again beneath the symbol. She winced and put one hand to her forehead. Her other hand grasped at the door behind her and she twisted the knob, opening the door behind her.

She shot one more terrified glance at N, her eyes surfacing for a second, before shoving the door open and bolting.

[Okay, now it's Uzi's turn to be in mortal danger! I feel like every chapter has ended in either N or Uzi like, being possessed and terrified about it.

Believe it or not, this chapter was actually gonna be a bit darker, but I ended up not going that route because, well, I can't remember why, but yeah. I still have the scrapped ending if y'all are interested in seeing it. I'll, Idk, post in the comments or something.

Probably gonna take a small break from writing and edit some of the old chapters (I was reading through some of them earlier and WHOO THEY ARE CRUSTY.) Probably won't delay the next chapter by much, though.

Hope you have a better day than Uzi did!]
