Uzi stared into the mirror, peering at her purple eyes, waiting for something to happen. Her eye had been causing problems, switching between her normal eye and... something else. She had yet to catch it in the act.
"Hey, Uzi!" She jumped as N practically threw himself into the room. "Are you still trying to see your special eye?"
She whacked him on the arm and he winced, grabbing it. "Don't call it that!" She glanced back at the mirror. She pressed her eyes shut. "Whatever. Why are you here, N? And how?" He shrugged.
"The nice worker at the door let me in! I gave him a nice picture I drew. Hey, I made you one too!" He grabbed a piece of paper out of his pocket and handed it to her.
"Where did you get paper?" She asked, reviewing the outside of the folded paper skeptically. 'Oohzee' was scrawled across it in messy purple crayon. He shrugged. "Or crayons?"
"I honestly don't know." He said, squinting at the paper as if he was trying to remember. He shrugged, and his face quickly shifted into one of excitement as he watched her open the folded piece of paper.
Stupidly enough, Uzi was baffled by what she saw. A drawing, in crayon, of two blocks. One with a purple face and what could maybe pass as a splotch or tar with a puffball on its head. The other block was significantly taller with a yellow face and what looked like oil splattered over it. Splotches of seemingly random colors were scribbled across the page. She glanced up at N to see if he was joking.
He was not.
Trying to hide how touched she was, she looked up at him and put on a grin. Definitely just a facade. She actually couldn't care less and would probably burn it later just to prove how much she didn't care. "Wow, N, this is great! Thanks so much!" He grinned and mimed wiping sweat from his brow. "I'm not that short, though." She said, deadpan.
He shrugged. "I asked V how tall she thought you were and she told me that you were 'a tiny purple canker sore' and then told me to go eat you like a good little killer robot. I'm not going to, though, 'cause I'm an angsty, rebellious disassembly drone now!" He snapped his hands into finger guns and his visor lit up into a sunglasses shape.
Uzi tried to cover her laugh with a weary sigh, then jolted up in surprise. "Wait, did you say V told you that? You were talking to V?"
N blinked. "Um, yeah? She was back at the landing pod, that's where we sleep and hang out and stuff when we're not, um, murdering." Uzi groaned.
"N, I told you to tell me if you saw her! Why didn't you?!" He shrugged, looking sheepish.
"I don't know, I forgot, I guess." His gaze seemed to glaze over. It did that sometimes, randomly. It looked almost like he was listening and responding to something only he could hear. She watched his facial expressions carefully as they changed from being slightly concerned to outright horrified. Something is definitely up.
"N? Are you alright?" She questioned, unsure if she should reach out and touch him or if she should just let him run his course. Her voice seemed to snap him out of it.
"Huh? What's wrong?" He blinked a few times and looked around her bedroom.
"Nothing. I'm fine. Let's just go find V. I need to finish what J started."
N bit his lip. "I don't think that's a good idea, V is pretty strong..." Uzi squinted and tilted her head.
"I think I'll be fine. I have my railgun and I-" She trailed off. "Oh, crap. I chucked it at J." She flopped down dejectedly onto her bed. N looked like he wanted to sit down next to her, but ultimately thought the better of it and sat criss-cross applesauce on the floor, shoving aside her six tons of papers and books. "Oh, well. I'll figure something out. Come on, N." She shoved herself off her bed and walked purposefully towards the door, consciously listening for N to follow her for some reason.
