chapter 24

"Your a devil?" Gon asked, eyes wide in disbelief.

"I..I would have told you Gon. I just.... I didn't want you to think of me differently" Killua said quietly. His wings were slowly getting darker, and they were now a medium shade of grey. Although they were currently lighter than those of his other friends, who'd rubbed ash all over their wings.

"I...Killua......ugh" Gon said, mumbling incoherently. 

Neon was the only one still on the other side. "Are you coming?" Killua asked.

"I don't think you guys should trust me Killua. I still don't know why I decided to help you. But I can't go up there. I've been so loyal to the devil organizations that I don't really know how to be good. I'd be a hindrance if anything" Neon said sadly.

Killua was about to reply when Gon piped up. "If you rescued Killua then that means you have some good in you. People can change. Killua changed didn't he. He was on your side before but he changed. I can see it in his eyes. And even though I'm still mad that he lied to me...I know he wants to do the right thing. And you do too. So come on. Was it Neon?" Neon nodded. "Come on Neon, you'll be a big help with whatever we're doing."

Neon smiled and Killua hoisted her up. Then he sealed the portal and they all started flying quickly. They got some height to avoid being seen by the scattered populations of heaven. Killua lead the way as he explained what was going on.

"Basically, I was sent on a mission to impurify your soul, because your the key to saving Charlotte, the archangel. She's been sick for a while, and her abilities to keep up with maintaining the heavenly barriers are weakening. You can save her Gon. Your soul is so pure that your presence will be enough to bring her magic back. But then our boss...or old boss I guess, sent me here to destroy your purpose to cause chaos. But I realized that if Charlotte ends up falling from existence, everything as we know it will collapse. So I switched sides because I am not about to watch the entire universe fall apart. I guess Neon has also switched sides so now were here. And were going to Charlotte's right now by the way."

Gon blinked a couple of times, and about ten wing flaps later he said "Ok I think I got it. Is there anything I'm supposed to do or do I just like stand next to her?" Kurapika nodded, which Gon took as a sign that the blond was going to ask the same question.

"Um. I didn't think that far. All I know is that Neon deduced that the barrier between heaven and hell is getting so weak that you guys breached it without any extra powers. I have the ability to create rifts in the barrier, and some other devils and angels have different powers. But you guys don't, and you got through somehow. I think that Charlotte's gotten so weak that the collapse has started. We have to hurry." Killua said urgently.

They picked up the pace, and soon they arrived in front of the heavenly gate castle, Charlotte's residence. It was the most majestic looking castle like building that they'd ever seen. It rested on a pile of seemingly golden clouds.

Now there was only the problem of getting inside the most heavily guarded place in the whole afterlife.
