9 YEARS LATER
The start of spring. Outside being warm, blue and pink.
It feels fantastic!
Chatter resonated around parks, with family and friends enjoying delightful picnics beneath the Sakura trees. The temperature is proper. Warm sun rays are beaming happily on the grass. The days seem to be growing longer and profound, and cherry blossoms are blooming all around the corners of Tokyo.
Everywhere casted a vibrant pastel pink.
Really, a beautiful day for everyone.
Well - not exactly everyone; Deep heaves of breaths and swishes of fabric colliding with one another accompanied loud clicks of high heels hitting the streets pavement.
One girl was rushing through the sidewalks as if her life depended on it, clutching a brown envelope underneath her armpit and straining to keep her leathered black bag and a slew of documents firmly in her hands
Panic. All she could do was panic.
That's what she gets for sleeping through her alarm despite having set at least five alarm clocks to get her up. The girl had a very important job interview scheduled in the next forty minutes and she was yet to arrive at the institution. Fortunately, the train station was five minutes away from her house. Still, that's no excuse for being this reckless for not being on time!
Luckily for her, a train arrived just as she reached the station, rapidly opening its door and swallowing as many passengers as it could within its massive vehicle. Manaka raced inside like everyone else, apologizing to those who she collided with, and ended up nearly smushed into the glass from the crowd when she attempted to take a seat.
She flopped in a seat and sighed, trying to catch her breath from all that running. Once she managed to calm down, she pushed back her black Bayonetta eyeglasses frame to the top of her nose bridge and patted her straightened long hair, attempting to repair the damage the wind caused in this heat.
The blouse she wore beneath her blazer felt tight. And she can feel sweat forming in between her thighs. Hopefully her pencil skirt wasn't stained from the back.
Gosh, how embarrassing would that be?
She then held her suitcase close to her chest and tilted her head and stared at the ceiling. The female couldn't help but ponder.
Will she be okay? Was she going to make a good first impression to the organization's owners?
After all, it is a well-known corporation controlled by two wealthy brothers. She practiced her introduction multiple times, but for some reason, deep down inside, she still felt insecure. Many people her age compete vigorously for employment at this particular company. Some even work harder than others, going so far as to try to obtain positive reference letters from high hierarchies in order to stand out furthermore.
Manaka lacked a solid recommendation letter...and connections to those involved in the upper class. She did, nonetheless, perform two exceptional accomplishments throughout her adolescence. And that was graduating from a prestigious high school and indulging herself in an internship.
'Still, is it enough?'
Sighing once more, Manaka took a hold of the company's envelope, it's symbol plastered against the back of the folder, and stared at it's closed form. She squeezed her eyes shut and prayed, prayed hard she'd be able to land a decent position.
While she was preoccupied with prayer, she neglected to notice the person sitting parallel from her with a sly smirk dancing on his lips.
'Interesting.'
