Nur al-Din Mahmud Zangi, the current Emir under the Zengids, visited Madinah one day to pay a visit to the grave of the Prophet ﷺ. Some of the villagers in Madinah told the Emir that there had been several attempts to dig under the floor and steal the body of the Prophet ﷺ. The Emir was angered. So he ordered his soldiers to dig a trench around the spot of the house of Aisha and fill the trench with molten lava, or as some had said, molten lead or copper. The trench was covered up with marble to disguise it. The molten lava would scald or burn anyone who attempted to dig through the floor secretly from underground.

-----------------------------------------------------------
Myth: Nur al-Din Zangi had a dream in which the Prophet ﷺ appeared to him, telling him that two men from Spain were attempting to steal His body by digging underground.

Debunk: This story has no historical basis. It was first reported in the Wafa al-Wafa book without any chain of narration. Hence, the story of the dream is very dubious and likely not true.
