We can learn that the grave of the Prophet ﷺ was always a simple grave, not worshipped, nor was it covered by any other structure except his house. The spread of deviant creeds, and some of the Sultans and rulers being influenced by such creeds, ended up in things being constructed over the blessed graves. Alhamdullilah for the Najdi Da'wah and Ibn Saud's attempts at keeping shirk and innovation away from the blessed graves.
Allah knows best.
May Allah guide us all.
