when arabella myers and charlie conway heard the sound of a duck call outside of charlie's window, they immediately rushed from where they were sitting and looked outside.
they saw their old coach, gordon bombay, standing on the sidewalk, grinning at both of them. "i was hoping you'd both be here. wanna play some hockey?"
charlie and arabella looked at each other and smiled, then ran to get their rollerblades. charlie told his mom, who was about to go to work, that they were going to get their teammates, and she smiled. "stay safe!"
"we will mom!" arabella called back as they rushed out the door.
they found bombay in the same spot, and arabella gave him a hug, since it was the first time she'd seen him back, before he told them to go find the others. the two friends nodded before skating away, already knowing where to find their friends.
the first person they went to find was jesse, who they found playing street hockey with a few other people. they went up to the fence and hooked their fingers through it, trying to call jesse over. arabella watched as jesse skated his way through everyone before shooting the ball in, and charlie blew the duck sound.
"charlie, you know coach just put his lips on that like ten minutes ago? you're drinking his spit basically."
charlie laughed and rolled his eyes and looked at jesse, who smiled widely when he saw his old teammates. "hey charlie and bella!"
"hi jesse!" arabella was close to jesse, they had one of the best on-ice dynamics.
"jesse, we're back!" charlie called out.
he was obviously excited about this, and so the three of them skated away to go find more of their team members, thrilled to get their team back together. they skated through the streets before they skated into a mall, where they were told to get out and they weren't allowed to skate inside.
arabella laughed and started skating backwards next to charlie, and he just shook her head laughing at the girl. "come on bella, you're gonna bump into someone!"
she just shrugged, and jesse jokingly pushed her, which almost made her fall onto someone's table. arabella looked at jesse with a shocked expression, then went to chase after him. she only stopped chasing after him when they had to climb up an escalator, and she was only paying attention to keeping her balance and not falling.
"if i fall and somehow survive, just kill me. that'd be way too embarrassing," arabella joked, and the boys just laughed.
"coach would kill me if i let you die, otherwise you'd be long gone."
arabella gasped dramatically at charlie before pulling a piece of his hair, making him scoff. "ow."
she laughed as the three finally got off the escalator and skated into the movie theater, where they saw their fourth teammate ripping tickets.
once again, charlie blew the duck horn and called the curly headed boy over, who was trying to protest. averman didn't want to lose his job, but he also wanted to go and play some hockey again, just like he used to. finally, arabella convinced him. "come on ave, i'll give you a kiss!"
that persuaded him, and soon, the four of them were skating down the sidewalk after leaving the busy mall, but not before arabella gave averman a kiss on the cheek. as they skated through the city, they finally got to where guy and connie were standing, about to kiss.
"guy's gonna be pissed if we interrupt them." charlie raised an eyebrow, wondering if it was worth it.
arabella laughed. "which will make it so much better."
charlie blew the duck horn right before their lips connected, and averman called out to them. "the quack attack is back, jack!"
this made connie turn away and head over to them, saying hi to everyone. connie and arabella were very close, especially since they were the only girls. so as they were doing a small catch-up, she heard guy complaining. "i was this close!"
arabella laughed, and they all left to go find the next teammate, and they found goldberg working at his family's restaurant, and he didn't hesitate at all to join them as they went to find their next teammate.
charlie knew exactly where to find him. they skated through a park and a water fountain before they found adam banks in front of his house, playing with a ball and commentating his own game as he shot and made a goal.
jesse called his name, and it gained adam's attention. "hey cake-eater, you wanna play some real hockey?"
they all cheered him on, and adam replied with an enthusiastic 'yeah!', before skating over and saying hi. he skated next to charlie the entire time as they went through the city, and arabella noticed this. she gave charlie a sly smile, and he just shook his head with a small tint of redness.
as the group was skating on a sidewalk through a park, arabella wondered where fulton was. she had grown close to him because he would knock everyone down for her. he was like the dragon, and she was the princess. he would fight anyone who tried to come for her.
arabella and charlie skated together, and he grabbed her hand so she could do a spin, and they laughed. everyone knew that they were the closest out of everyone on the team, and they loved seeing them together. arabella always cheered charlie up, and vice versa. although they weren't siblings or dating, they were close enough to be either.
as they were skating through the park, goldberg got thrown off track and skated down a hill, and arabella noticed him landing on a picnic blanket where a few other people were sitting, and she just laughed. "hey goldie, c'mon!"
he laughed before getting back with the group, and they started skating down the sidewalk again. when arabella looked over, she saw a few people getting thrown, so she stopped everyone to make sure they weren't next. instead of someone that meant trouble, she saw fulton, and she immediately grinned.
"fulton!" she cheered out, skating up to him. he smiled and skated to her too, but he warned them about a wire that three of the old hawks tied to try and trip them. she nodded, then jumped over the wire to give fulton a hug.
if it was someone else, fulton would shove them off. however, since it was arabella, he accepted her hug with a grin. he missed the girl, and he missed her warm hugs even more.
strangers walking by might've thought they were a couple reuniting after a while, but the ducks knew that they were just friends, and that's all they were going to be.
after they pulled away and everyone cheered about having fulton back, and when they went to skate further along the way, they saw the three hawks members tied to a tree in nothing but their underwear.
arabella laughed. "that's what you get, dickheads."
the team skated past, teasing the three boys with taunting remarks. arabella smiled to herself, happy that her favorite team was getting back together to play once more.
