"ancient greece was the beginning of western civilization. see, in greece, they didn't have professional sports or wheaties boxes. so the athletes competed for a different reason. anybody?"
the team was sitting outside in their matching warm up clothes, listening to miss mackay talk. arabella liked miss mackay, she seemed really sweet.
goldberg being goldberg, only guessed the answer with, "falafels?"
everyone let out a small laugh, but charlie, who was raising his hand, answered the question correctly. "pride."
"oh my god, they were gay." arabella let out a fake gasp, making fulton try to hide his laugh. he slapped her head lightly, making her slap his arm. she then told fulton to come closer so she could whisper something in his ear. "it's cuz charlie likes adam, so he used the pride senses to know that the answer was pride."
fulton couldn't hold back his laugh that time, so everyone turned to the duo to see what was happening. kenny, who was sitting on the other side of fulton, seemed a little...jealous. he thought they were really close. however, he didn't say anything. on kenny's right side was adam, and so kenny tried to focus on how adam was staring at charlie with admiration in his eyes.
miss mackay ignored fulton and arabella, telling charlie he was right. "the various city-states waved their flags and wore their home colors proudly."
fulton then asked a question, smiling. "did america always dominate?"
"dominate? does that mean the other guys were all submissive?" arabella joked to herself, but kenny laughed. she then slapped fulton's shoulder. "america wasn't even a thing."
everyone was teasing fulton, but dean defended him. arabella let out a small aww. the two tough guys were sticking up for each other. "it was a good question!"
miss mackay laughed. "no, america wasn't around back then. don't forget that compared to other countries, america is still young, still forming its own identity. america is a teenager, just like you. a little awkward at times, but always right there on the verge of greatness."
after miss mackay's inspirational speech, bombay took the team rollerblading, except he was driving a golf cart. he was making them chant as if they were in an army, but the words were changed a little bit.
"i don't know but i been told!" the team repeated after bombay after every sentence, and it was kinda funny. while cheering, kenny watched as arabella and charlie skated around each other, trying to tease the other one.
arabella looked over and locked eyes with kenny, and her smile grew. kenny thought his heart was going to explode, but he smiled back. a second later, however, she showed up right next to him, skating alongside him.
"team usa's gonna win the gold!"
"usa's gonna win the gold!"
the cheer went on a little longer, but arabella and kenny weren't paying attention. arabella grabbed his hand which made his face turn red, and she spun him around as they were skating. he turned perfectly, seeing as it was easier than his other tricks. even though he knew his cheeks were red, he still looked at arabella and smiled.

"kenny! we get to go on a plane!" arabella cheered when she found out the news. the team was supposed to take a plane to los angeles for their first game at the junior goodwill games.
