I answer my phone to my parents scolding me once again. On how I have to meet a certain high standard that I do already. "Okay Mom I have class," I lie hanging up the phone. They just expect to much from me.
⚠️TW:⚠️
I rip off the arm cuffs and draw my knife again. I slice through my skin feeling euphoric. Blood coats my arms and hands. I lay on the floor motionless. If only the earth could swallow me up.
⚠️end of section.
I fall asleep on the floor.
I wake up to Gwenni banging on my door. I scatter to my feet to clean up and slip my cuffs back on. "FAL!" she yells. "Hold on," I groan. I finally leave my room
"About dang time Fallon," she huffs. "What do you want Gwen?" I yawn. "Food. Come on," she drags me down to the food hall. We grab a bite to eat. "So how are things?" she smiles. "Fine," I shrug. A couple of students walk past us. "Hi, Patty! Hi Rosette!" Gwenni waves. They just keep walking not missing a beat. Her expression falls briefly. "I'm going to a party tonight if you want to come!" she smiles again. "No," I laugh. "Please Fallon," she begs. "I'll think about it," I concede.
"I have a hair appointment. Sorry to cut this short," Gwenni smiles. "No problem. I need to train," I nod. I go to get up and out of the corner of my eye, I see the one and only. A group of girls is gathered around him talking. They're the kind of girls only here to meet guys. Which is very clear when one has her hands on him. His eyes meet mine and next thing I know he's walking over to me. I spin around on my heels and take off towards the pool. I take off my weapons and shoes right before I dive in. "What is with you Gryffon?" he asks.  "I wanted to go for a swim," I shrug. "In that?" he laughs. "Shut up. Go back to your groupies," I huff. He rolls his eyes. "Somebody is jealous," he laughs. "I have no reason to be jealous," I bite. "Sure," he raises an eyebrow. "Come swim," I say putting my arms on the edge. He sits down, "No." "Please," I say. "No," he repeats. "Why not?" I ask. He leans closer to me. "I am the god of fire and metal. How do you think I feel being in the water?" his eyes are like daggers. "It won't hurt you will it?" I inquire. "No but it makes my power useless," he explains. "You have others," I smile. "No means no Fallon," he says. I huff. I dive back under making sure to splash him with water. "Fallon, what is with the attitude?" he scoffs. "Sorry, I'm not all over you," I smirk. "Stop being childish and get out of the pool," he says. "Why should I listen to you?" I ask. "You're bleeding Gryffon," he says staring at my arm. "Shit," I mumble getting out. "Let me see," he grabs my arm. "No, it's fine. I just must have cut it on the side of the pool," I lie. He holds a tight grip around my arm above the cuff or sleeve whatever one calls it. He slides it off revealing the scars of new and old. "What the fuck are these?" he asks. "Scars," I say avoiding eye contact.
He said nothing else until he successfully dragged me to his place. "Sit," he orders handing me a towel. He rips off the other cuff. His eyes pierce into mine. "I haven't known you long, but what the fuck is going on?" he demands. "Is someone doing this to you?" he pushes. "No," I say feeling small. He inhaled sharply leaning on the counter with one arm. "Did you do this?" he asks. I stare at his chest refusing to make eye contact. "Fallon?" he says. "Yes," I whisper. "Why would you-" he starts in a harsh tone making my eyes well. He takes a deep breath. "Why?" he rubs his forehead. "Because I need relief," I huff standing up. "Why don't you talk to Gwenni or your parents?" he asks. "Because they're driving me over the edge," I admit turning to face him. "Do you know what it's like to have your parents hate you? To never be good enough?!" I start. "Fal-" he starts. "No! It's so fucking hard. This is the only way I can let the pain go," my voice cracks. I ramble on it on until I collapse in tears. I haven't been able to let all of my emotions out in a while. I feel warm arms around me instantly.
Somehow I end up clinging to Conan on the couch.
