Devan looked around the room before giving me a sickly grin. "This is golden. You can't kill him? Him?!"

I groaned and placed my elbows on the table in front of me. "Obvious-fucking-ly. Otherwise he'd be locked up with all the others in a place where even his arse crack wouldn't get wiped," I sneered, looking at Axel. He was smiling happily, looking off into the distance.

I shook my head. "Whenever I touch him, I just... Stop and see this... This, thing. I don't even know what it is."

At this, Devan's face paled. "Wait... Hold the phone a minute. What do you mean you stop? Do you mean he... He stops you from moving?" I raised my eyebrows and nodded my head slowly. His face paled even more.

"You see, this is why Mother Nature is a twat." He growled under his breath and swiped the alcohol up off of the table and drank the lot. The bottle then went crashing into the wall behind us.

I furrowed my eyebrows and Axel cowered away in his chair.

Devan slid back into his seat and put his head in his hands. "Crap, crap, crap, crap."

"What is it?" I asked.

His head snapped back up and he looked from me, to Axel and then back to me. "You... You and-" He shook his head and got up from his chair. "Stand."

We did as we were told. Devan walked around the table and placed a hand on both mine and Axel's chest. His jaw clenched and then unclenched. "Fuck..." He drawled out, before shaking his head.

I sat back down as did the others.

"What is it?" I asked again, this time firmer. Curiosity burned my mind.

Devan put his head in his hands. "When you died Chasity, you were a lost soul. You were scattered everywhere. Too unstable to go to heaven, but you had unfinished business so you couldn't go to Hell. Karma's aren't chosen, they need to have a specific past."

He groaned and raised his eyes up to meet my own. "Your past was perfect and so you were made into a Karma. However, you still age."

"Well, duh." I said, motioning up and down at my body that resembled a teenager.

"Technically, you aren't alive. You died a long time ago, but part of your soul is still alive, as well as your human body."

"Sounds like some bad soul song," Axel snorted from besides me. Devan and myself both gave him a death stare, to which he raised his hands and put a lopsided smile on his face. "Sorry."

"It's incredibly confusing, but your soul mate still thinks you're alive. Because your soul is alive... But it isn't. It's just become useful for us."

My face paled. "You mean?"

He nodded. "But there's more."

I groaned. "Please, no. I already think my ears are bleeding."

"When you find your soul mate, your souls connect in a gross way in which people call love. That's what the visions are. Your soul knows your memories, but your mind has forgotten them. Meaning Axel here has your memories and so when you touch..." Devan made a face. "Anyway, this means that if a Karma, such as yourself, finds their soul mate who is still alive and they interact, their souls start to come together."

My blood stopped rushing.

My heart stopped beating.

My breathing stopped.

"And when a soul that is technically dead connects with a soul that isn't..."

"You create a half blood." I finished, my voice coming out in short gasps. And at that point I wanted to punch Axel's cute face until his eyes merged together. Because Axel was becoming half Karma, half human and so was I. The only thing more powerful than Devan was a half blood.

And, yeah, it'd be great to have that much power, but, generally, half bloods were killed before they reached Earth. How, I didn't know. There were only two ways to kill a half blood and I only knew one.

Half bloods weren't good. Their minds had the smarts of both the dead and the human. Had both the strengths. I only had the mind of a human and not the strength. The strength came from the need for revenge. The strength came from Karma.

Basically, half bloods were poisonous gold.

"What do we do to stop it?"

Devan winced at me, before banging his head on the table. "You're not going to like it."

I rolled my eyes. "Just tell me."

Devan slowly raised his eyes and rested his chin on the table. "You have to go back into your past and get the revenge you needed when you died."

I furrowed my eyebrows. "But that'd mean-"

"Yes," Devan said, nodding. "You'd be at peace and this guy would get to live a full life."

And I wasn't sure whether the fact that I would have to die all over again was what made me want to rip Devan's eyeballs from their sockets or the fact that the dick that caused this would be able to live a full life. A life that I should've been able to live. I'd have to go back and relive the past that was beautifully taken away from me so that he could live a full life.

But before I could react to any of this new information, there was a ripping sensation in my chest and I screamed out in pain. My chest felt like it was being ripped open and I screamed again, my breaths coming out in short gasps. I could faintly hear Devan shouting besides me and Axel screaming too, but the pain was clouding my senses.

I fell to the floor, clutching at my chest. It was agonising.

I screamed again and black spots clouded my vision. My hands gave way and I fell to the floor completely. I tried to breathe, but I couldn't. Tried to move, but I couldn't.

I was useless.

And then my world faded away like air being sucked out of a balloon.
