I woke up in a completely different place to where I passed out. I woke up in the place this all began. The place that was literally wooden walls, wooden floor and a wooden ceiling with and Xbox in the corner. Of course, the absence of Axel was serene, but, all in all, it looked the exact same.
And then Axel ran in, panic coating his cute little face and his blonde hair stuck to his round head and his wobbly lip like he was about to cry. It was all making me want to collapse to the floor and re live the pain I had just felt all over again, just to get rid of the horrid feelings in my stomach. Ew.
"Chasity," he breathed and I almost froze. But only almost, because the name coming out of his lips just sounded so natural and so... nice and never in my life would I have thought that. Never. I wasn't that person anymore.
"TherearepeopleoutsideandtheylookabitlikebusinessmenbutIdon'tthinktheyareand-"
"Axel," I walked towards him and placed my hands on his shoulders. "Breathe for a sec." He groaned and leaned forwards, placing his head on my shoulders as he took in a couple of deep breaths.
He took a step away from me. "I sort of kidnapped you back from Devan, and now there are angry looking men outside of my house. They look a lot like business men who haven't been paid. But, Karma, they have teeth."
I rolled my eyes and shook my head, knowing exactly what he was talking about. And just on cue there was a bang on the door followed by a growl, making Axel jump.
"I got these too," he held out two little pistols, his hands shaking like no tomorrow. "But oh my god, I didn't think you were ever going to wake up!"
I patted his cheek and took the guns from his hands. "You're so cute," I said, walking in the direction of the door to my left, more curious then anything else.
I found a toilet.
I scrunched my nose up at it.
"What is this place? It's so little and you don't even have any electric." I realised the last point as I looked around the room to see that it was lit by three little candles.
It was Axel's turn to shrug now. I assumed he was getting over preoccupied by the growing noises from outside. "It was my fathers, but I got it in his will. Which, I guess is your fathers, really. Because you were biologically related, I was adopted."
I frowned. It did mean that it was mine, but it didn't feel like it.
"So what about that big mansion?"
"That belonged to my biological father. They never owned anything like this, because we have a massive field behind the house. A nice little guy with rosy cheeks use to tend the lawn. I remember because he used to let me ride on the lawn mower with him." He frowned. "I haven't been out there in years, so I'm assuming it's all overgrown now."
There was a weird look in his eyes as he took a trip down memory lane. I'd never really heard him speak of his past life before, and hearing this was truly mesmerising to listen too.
Just as I was about to answer, the sound of splintering wood interrupted me and both of our eyes snapped towards the door.
With the sight of two well built, green eyed men I rolled my eyes.
"We're here to collect money." One of them said, an Irish twinge to his voice.
"We don't have any money," Axel said, coming up in front of me like that was going to protect me. The demon in front of him grinned and started to run forward, his eyes set on Axel. I growled and pushed the idiot in front of me out the way, before meeting the demons neck with my hand and using my strength against his own. I pushed him as hard as I could into the nearest wall, as he clawed at my hands trying to get free.
His claws were tearing my skin, but the only thing I could feel was the blood trickling out and I used my own finger nails to push into the tender skin on his neck, right into his jugular. A piercing sound ran out through the air and I was pulled off of his body, leaving a bleeding demon to fall breathlessly to the floor.
I was guessing it was the other demon that had pulled me away. One of his arms was around my waist and the other around my neck, which must have been more uncomfortable for him than it was me. He was dragging me to the door as I smeared his friends blood all over his nice white shirt and, before he could actually get out, Axel appeared and slapped him around the face.
Slapped him.
Slapped the demon who was trying to take me away.
Slapped. Him.
I cannot emphasise enough how much of a sucky move that was, but it go this attention and loosened the grip on me, so I guess that was one point to Axel. Who was grinning with accomplishment, by the way.
"What did you just do?" The demon said, his voice part angry part amused.
I didn't listen to Axel's reply. I was too busy trying to get out of the hold that I didn't actually hear it. I'm sure it was great though.
Once I had made it out (with little difficulty because demon guy had totally forgotten about me and now had Axel pinned against the wall) I set out to deal with him. The other guy was still down so that bought some time.
I took a second to appreciate the scene in front of me, before walking over and tapping demon guy on the shoulder and smiling sweetly. He looked down at his arms, then to me in confusion and then at Axel and everything seemed to click. I snorted, before drawing my fist back and slamming it as hard as I could against the guys nose, making him fly backwards, break the wood wall and land in a heap on the ground outside.
Next, I looked over to Axel (who was still grinning). I folded my arms across my chest and raised my eyebrows. "Next time, let me deal with them." I said, before walking over to the door.
"Noted," he said, but I could tell he didn't really mean it.
"We really do need to-" I started, but my words were cut off by a hand covering my mouth. And hand that smelt strongly of whiskey and cigarettes.
"Nobody takes what belongs to me," he whispered in my ear and a shiver went down my spine. And, like the click of a finger, I was out of Axel's place and back where it really started.
Back in Hell.
