Where ever I was, it seemed to always rain. And - not that I was complaining too much about the weather - it was pretty goddamn annoying. I mean, my boots still hadn't dried from the rain last night, or whenever it was. It was daylight now, so I assumed that I must have only been out for the night.

I didn't want to know how Devan managed to find me because I thought I'd gotten far enough away from him. We were an ocean apart, but that still didn't seem to keep him away. In all honesty, I didn't actually know what he wanted from me.

Two weeks he'd been on my trail and for those two weeks he'd been doing the exact same thing. Catching me and then putting his tail between his legs when he actually looked me in the eyes. The whole situation was annoying and stupid and I just wanted to go home, but I couldn't do that. I couldn't put them through that again. But I would, because I knew I had to.

I shuddered at the thought of seeing Axel on the floor in a pool of his own blood as Devan stood above him with a grin on his face so sickening that it could've made the cruelest person alive shiver in their spot. I remembered his exact words to me. He'd told me that people got killed when they didn't follow the rules and then he'd licked his lips towards Axel's lifeless body on the floor and I didn't know what was running through his head.

I didn't want to know what was running through his head.

And instead of finding out I ran. Ran as fast as I fucking could, but he still found me. The first night I was a mess of emotions and he ended up shoving a cloth that smelt slightly funky in my face and I fell unconscious, only to wake up in the middle of the woods in the very clothes I was wearing now.

The next few days I focused solely on training myself. Focused solely on protecting myself. Who from, I didn't know, but there was a sick feeling in my stomach telling me that there was something coming. Something I wasn't prepared for and something that could make or break me. Not only that, but focusing on something other than Axel was keeping me going. I didn't want to completely break down before knowing what Devan had in store for me.

Stupid, I know. But, in my own brain, it was logical.

Logically stupid.

I shook my head slightly before putting up my hood and running away from the building. It was situated in the woods, amongst some dense greenery. It was quiet here and I liked that. It gave my brain a chance to calm down and quieten. Gave it a chance to collect the thoughts that were running wild.

Once I knew I was far enough away from the building I stopped to catch my breath. I still hadn't eaten and so I was loosing energy again and fast. Focusing on the sounds around me I stood up straight. To my right there was nothing more than birds chirping, but to my left there was the slight hum of cars.

A smile made it's way onto my face and I made my way in that direction.

If my calculations were correct it was a Wednesday. Halloween, to be precise on the date and that made me want to smile even wider. Halloween was my favourite times of year. I could merge in so well with all the other costumes and my victims were so easy to pick out, especially at parties. A quick snap to the neck of my victim and people just assumed they were too wasted to do anything, meaning they would leave the dead bodies alone, not knowing they were dead until they had a hangover and no recognition of the night before.

Oh, the memories.

I reached the road after a about a minute. It was only a short rural one, but there was bound to be some stalls around here somewhere. Stalls that would hopefully provide some food. And my suspicions were answered when I saw a sign for a Halloween carnival about a mile down the road. I could've jumped for joy, if I had the energy for it.
