lilli layed down in her bed listening to the sea, the way the waves quietly splashed on the pebbley shore and the occasional seagull that flapped past the window.

'i'm so excited for my first day of school tomorrow.' she whispered, gently petting her cat, betty. she purred comfortingly, as if responding to lilli. 'hmm, will you miss me betts?', she smiled to her cat in a sing-song voice.

lilli looked over to her left bedside table and clicked the little light on her digital clock. sunset pink light filled the room as the numbers on the clock beamed '6:36'.

it's a little early, should i get dressed? she mumbled to herself, though if anyone saw her talking to herself, she would claim she was taking to betty (equally insane tbh). she was so excited for her new school, she rose from her bed and walked to the console table at the end of it, leaving betty alone on the bed (to her dissatisfaction).

she slid her arms through the sleeves of her shirt, then her legs through the skirt. lilli buttoned up her overcoat and slid her feet into the navy socks.
'how should i put my hair, betty? hmm' she wondered, running a pastel yellow tangle teaser through her raven hair. 'let's call charlotte.'

lilli put her phone to her ear waiting for charlotte to finally answer the phone. charlotte and lilli had been best friends ever since the first grade. lilli had been sitting by herself by the play equipment and charlotte asked what she was doing all by herself. the two have had an inseparable bond ever since. even through lilli's worst bits, charlotte had always stayed by her side. their friendship was like something in a fairytale - something everyone was jealous of at one point.

the call went to voicemail so lilli just left a text.

after six painful attempts, lilli had finally perfected her hair. hm, blue ribbons. wouldn't have chosen it myself, but it actually looks really good. she thought to herself.

she straightened her tie own last time and then walked downstairs to eat some breakfast.

'i thought dad would be awake by now. he's probably too tired from yesterday.' lilli sighed. grabbing a bowl from a nearby cardboard box.

hmm thinking about it, i'm not that hungry. i'm just gonna skip breakfast today. she knew it wasn't a wise choice. but why eat when your not hungry?

she quickly checked the time; 8:02am.
'shoot! i was supposed to leave 15 minutes ago!!' lilli smacked her head before quickly giving betty her food and grabbing her school bag.

'bye betty!!' lilli pats betty's head.
'bye dad!' she whispered up the stairs.

'bye mum.' she stroked the picture of her mother that sat on the window sill.
