{Third Person POV}

The days before detention fly by quickly, and before Colby knows it, he's on his way to the detention room alongside Toby and Andrew. Toby grasps Colby's hand in a comforting and protective manner, knowing from the way his hand shakes that Colby seems very anxious. Colby knows his parents will be pissed off at him when he gets home. On the way, neither of them look at Andrew. In all honesty, Colby doesn't notice anything around him. He's immersed in his own world of anxieties and worries. The entire walk to the detention room is silent. The awkward and all-consuming kind of silence, not the kind that can be soothing at times. They eventually make it to the detention room and are forced to sit in different corners of the room, meaning they can't talk. Colby doesn't look at anyone the entire time, however he can feel someone's gaze burning into him. It's probably Andrew or Toby because it's not the teacher, but Colby doesn't care. Colby occupies the entire time thinking and daydreaming. His escapism is daydreaming. It reaches to the point where he'd prefer to be fantasizing than spending time with Kai, Juniper, or even Toby.

Toby taps Colby on the shoulder, jolting him out of his reverie. He didn't even know they'd been dismissed. Colby is still in a condition of mild dissociation. It appears that time is slowing down and that everything around him is a dream. This happens from time to time, and it's most likely due to his anxiety about returning home. "Hey, are you okay?" Toby inquires, his voice concerned. Colby takes a moment to acknowledge Toby's words. "I'm perfectly fine." Charlie speaks quietly because he is unsure of how loud he is speaking and does not want to speak too loudly. Colby stands up and stumbles his way to the classroom door.

I was about to walk out of the classroom when...

I'm sorry that this chapter was so short. This is one of the old ones and was originally only like a paragraph long and I was secretly editing it in class. I promise the next one will be longer. -Tad
