Y/N STARK (6-2-8)

I woke up the next day, feeling lighter than I had before. After getting ready, I headed down to the training rooms, where I met Peter. We went through a workout together, albeit a bit slower due to his still-healing injury.

Training seemed to be over quickly, and the two of us walked back to our rooms together. I wanted to talk to him, wanted to tell him that I... well, that I wanted him, but that seemed a bit too forward. Even if... even if he had fallen asleep on me last night, and he'd cuddled into me. But that could be viewed as purely platonic... right?

"So, how're you enjoying working with Earth's mightiest heroes?" I asked.

"Oh it's alright..." Peter hesitated, before adding, "I have this gorgeous co-worker, and they make it tolerable."

My heart jolted in my chest, but I answered, "Bucky, right?"

Peter laughed, and I couldn't help but smile at the sound. "Oh yeah, definitely Bucky."

I hesitated, before saying, "Well... my life got better after a certain someone joined the team."

Peter paused and looked at me, his eyes widening slightly. His mouth opened and closed, like he was trying to figure out what to say, when he finally landed on, "Yeah?"

I opened my mouth to reply, to flirt a little more, when a blue blur rushed towards us, but stopped a few feet away. Pietro opened his mouth as if to speak, and then paused, looking between the two of us. His eyes flicked between us, and how close we were standing – I hadn't even realised that Peter's hand had brushed against mine.

"Am I... interrupting something?" Pietro asked slowly.

"No. Not at all," I said, a little too casually. Peter snickered and I elbowed him.

Pietro watched me with a grin on his face that said he knew I was lying. "Sure. Whatever you say."

Before I could answer Pietro zoomed away, leaving Peter and I standing together. Alone. Together. Peter watched me closely, and I felt my heart beat faster. Was he always this handsome? I mean, of course he was, but just being so close to him...

"Mr Stark would like me to inform you all that movie night is about to begin," Friday alerted us.

We both jumped slightly at the sound, and I mentally cursed Friday for ruining the moment. Maybe Pietro wasn't the only cockblock in the tower.

"It's the middle of the day," Peter said incredulously.

I nodded. "But Nat and Clint have a mission tonight, and we can't have movie night without them."

"Why don't you just... have movie night another time?" Peter asked.

I narrowed my eyes at him. "You don't know the lore, do you?"

"The – the lore?" Peter asked as his eyes widened slightly.

I burst out laughing. "Oh, Pete. Today's the only time we all have free for a while."

Peter scoffed and rolled his eyes, nudging me slightly. I just grinned back and grabbed his arm to tug him along to the theatre floor. He allowed me to pull him to the theatre room, where we sat down on a couch beside each other. We learned our mistake from last time and sat right beside each other – something that made my heart flutter in my chest.

I didn't see much of the movie – I was busy watching the boy beside me from the corner of my eye. I could tell he was watching me too, but I didn't know what to do about it. Should I move closer to him? Flirt with him? How would I even flirt with him, anyway? What would I say?

You're overthinking things, a soft, female voice whispered in my mind, a hint of laughter lacing her words. Just rest your head on his shoulder.

I turned and glared at Wanda, whose eyes were on the screen. Mind your own business, I thought, throwing the words at her.

Wanda just smirked slightly, her eyes never leaving the TV.

After a moment of consideration, I decided to follow her advice, and gently rested my head on Peter's shoulder. He tensed slightly, making me panic and wonder if maybe I should not have listened to Wanda, before he relaxed and moved his arm, placing it around my shoulders. I felt my heart beat a bit faster, but I ignored it, trying (and failing) to keep the giddy smile off of my face.

After the movie, Peter and I walked to the kitchen together. Our hands brushed against each other a few times, and I tried to build up the courage to just grab his hand. But before I could, Pietro ran past us and into the kitchen, searching through the cupboards for something to eat. Peter grinned and started talking to Pietro, and I felt the moment pass.

Next time.
