James woke up to another working day, well all he could do was get ready for work. After the little escort to the crime scene he and Melissa had not talked. He was somehow curious to know if she had found something.
He got to work and for some reason he had not seen Melissa leave her office. He too got busy all of a sudden and nearly almost forgot to see her, well he couldn't.
He walked over to her office and knocked. A tired little" come in" was heard. Something was wrong with her, he thought as he walked in.
" Someone's been avoiding me," he joked and Melissa let out a small smile as he sat down opposite her.
" It's hard to avoid that handsome face of yours," she teased the compliment.
" You seem to be succeeding," he played along.
He studied her face, she wasn't exactly tired, she was filled with emotion.
Did he ever mention Melissa was the emotional type. She looked tough, played tough, but she was the most emotional hot mess he'd ever been friends with.
" What's biting you?" He asked.
Melissa sighed before she could push some of the papers on her desk next to James." That lady came in here and reported her niece missing. Her niece was also raped the day before she went missing. She thinks the rapist kidnapped her niece because, well, why would she run away?
" Do you see that girl James? She doesn't even look over ten years old. Yet some asshole shoved his manhood in her dignity. What a cruel world we're living in."
James knew Melissa was feeling the little girl's horror. She had that thing to share emotions with people, it was good at a certain point because if she didn't share a feeling with someone then there's something wrong.
" Do you think he has her?" He asked.
" I want to think so, but he's never killed a girl before. All are women. Yet again she's not dead. Urgh!....if she's alive and we've got some detail from her aunt, if we could find her and he's the rapist..." She said looking at James who was looking at her too.
" What are the chances she ran away?" She was asking James. " I don't think she did. I think the rapist did kidnap her to finish her off or something." She sounded a little desperate as she spoke.
" Then she didn't run away," James trusted her thoughts." Let's assume she was kidnapped by her rapist, that'd make it easier won't it?"
Melissa smiled with satisfaction. She loved having James' support. She trusted his instincts too and they had similar minds. If they were on the same page she knew they were both right.
He was not just her workmate but her perfect partner. She considered him an equal despite his low rank. The two had a weird, healthy not too close but strong relationship.
" Good to see you haven't lost your mind," she replied.

" Officer Burns," Ambrose spoke as he walked in not at all taking his eyes off his desk as he wrote something on a piece of paper." I need you to get me this man, you'll probably find him at his garage," here he said handing James the paper with both addresses on it." Don't waste time," he ordered.
Obedient James left.

James walked forward the garage with two other officers, the other waiting for them in the car.
The garage was like any other third rate garage you'd see. Cars waiting to be fixed, others being fixed, some parts all over the floor, a dirty floor to be exact....yuck!
There was only one man in the garage, no doubt that must be the guy they're looking for. He was under an SUV dressed in a blue one body piece work suit, stained with oil from the cars and who knows what else was on that thing.
" Aron Summers?" James called out the man's name.
" Yeah," he said rolling himself out.
As soon as Aron met eyes with James he felt a cold shiver run down his spine. He remembered him from yesterday and it was obvious James remembered him too.
He didn't show any emotion towards seeing his face though, he was as he was yesterday. A cop!
" I'm officer Burns and I'd like for you to come with us to the station. That's by order," he said and Aron swallowed hard.
Interesting.
Hello guys, thank you for reaching this far!
What do you think is going to happen to Aron?
