It was a dark and stormy night, and Wednesday was tucked in bed, trying to ignore the strange noises coming from the creaky old mansion she called home. Suddenly, there was a loud crash, and Wednesday's heart raced as she sprang out of bed and ran into the hallway.
There, she saw Enid, lying on the floor, unconscious. Wednesday quickly assessed the situation and saw that Enid was badly injured – it looked as if they had been in a fight. Without hesitation, Wednesday rushed over to Enid and began administering first aid. She cleaned their wounds, wrapped them in bandages, and began to tend to their other injuries.
Meanwhile, Wednesday couldn't help but think about the feelings she had been ignoring for so long. She'd always had a special connection with Enid, and it was becoming increasingly clear that those feelings were more than just friendship. But Wednesday was too afraid to admit her feelings – she had never been one to express her emotions freely.
As Enid lay there, unconscious and vulnerable, Wednesday realized that she couldn't hold back her feelings any longer. She took a deep breath and whispered,
"Enid, I've been meaning to tell you something for a long time, but I was too afraid to say it. But now, I don't care. I have feelings for you, Enid. My heart races when I'm with you, and I've never felt that way about anyone before. I know it might be too much for you to take in, but I had to tell you."
Enid's eyes fluttered open at the sound of Wednesday's voice, and they met Wednesday's eyes. There was a moment of silence as they locked eyes, and Enid knew immediately what Wednesday meant.
Enid smiled softly, and she reached out to take Wednesday's hand.
"Wednesday, I have feelings for you too," she whispered.
"And I think I have for a while, but I was afraid to say anything."
The two girls looked at each other, and in that moment, the walls of their hearts came crashing down. They embraced each other tightly, their hearts racing with excitement and fear.
And as they held each other, they both knew that they were in love.
They held each other close for what felt like forever, their hearts racing in unison as they both tried to process what had just happened. But then, their stomachs rumbled, reminding them that it had been a long night already.
"Hungry?" Enid asked, looking up at Wednesday and trying to smile through the pain.
"Very," Wednesday replied.
They made their way into the kitchen, still holding hands, and tried to ignore the fact that the storm was still raging outside. They took a seat at the old wooden table and began to sift through the fridge and the shelves, trying to find something edible. Then Enid's gaze fell on a half-full jar of peanut butter, and Wednesday's eyes lit up.
"Peanut butter. Just what the doctor ordered." Wednesday said, gesturing to Enid's injuries. Enid nodded slowly, and Wednesday pulled out two giant spoons from the silverware drawer. Together, they gobbled down the peanut butter, laughing as they made a mess of their faces.
After they were done, they washed their hands and sat back down at the table, still holding hands. Wednesday took a deep breath, still trying to process everything, and Enid did the same.
Then, Wednesday spoke up, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Enid, about what I said..."
Enid smiled at her and said,
"it's okay, Wednesday. We don't have to talk about it now."
Wednesday smiled back, feeling butterflies in her stomach. "Okay," she said, reaching up and brushing Enid's hair out of their eyes.
They sat there for what felt like hours, the only sound the ticking of the old clock on the wall. Finally, their stomachs rumbled again, and Enid said, "I think it's time for bed."
Wednesday nodded and followed Enid upstairs to their shared bedroom. They got into their pajamas and climbed into bed together, still holding hands. As they drifted off to sleep, they knew that this was the beginning of something special. They had confessed their feelings, and they had a long journey ahead of them, but they knew that, as long as they were together, they could face anything.
