Adrianna POV.
Ivy and I stepped out of the chopper, looking up at the grand mansion that was to be their new home. They had escaped the chaos and danger of their old life and were now embarking on a new chapter while hoping they wouldn't be discovered where they were hiding. The mansion was the perfect place to hide and start anew. It was isolated, with acres of land surrounding it, and had everything they would ever need. Nonetheless, they didn't know who the American mafia leader was and their house was not even close to theirs. They knew that they were safe for a while and the place was good for them to bring up Jassy.
"Wow, it's beautiful," she said, as she looked up at the mansion in awe.
"It's better than I imagined," I replied, feeling a sense of excitement and relief at the same time.
We had arranged the purchase of the mansion months before, and now we were finally here. It was a huge, four-story building with almost twenty bedrooms, five living rooms, an indoor pool, a gym, and a wine cellar. We knew that this was where we would be safe from our past, and start building a new life together.
We walked up to the main entrance and were greeted by the butler, who had been hired to take care of the house. He welcomed us and led us inside. As we walked through the halls, I couldn't help but feel as though we belonged in this lavish mansion.
We were taken on a tour of the mansion, being shown each room and the features that came with it. We marveled at the indoor pool, the gym, and the wine cellar. In the end, we settled on the bedrooms on the third floor which had a wide balcony that provided a great view.
After the tour, we sat on the balcony, watching the sunset in silence. Ivy snuggled close to me as we shared a moment of serenity after all that had happened.
"I can't believe we made it here," Ivy said, breaking the silence.
"It feels like we've come full circle," I replied, taking her hand in mine.
After the sunset, we decided to order some food. The butler was more than happy to order from a local restaurant and bring it to the mansion. We sat in the dining room, enjoying our meal and discussing our plans for the future.
Ivy wanted to get a job and start a new life in this new town which was kind of surprising since she hated doing that, while I figured I could use some of the money I had stashed away to invest in a business of my own after my baby gets two years old. The mansion was perfect; we could start fresh and build something that we could call our own without being helped by anyone or having to owe someone.
After dinner, we started unpacking our luggage. We brought with us only the essentials - clothes, personal documents, and a few mementos from our past lives that we wanted to keep.
As we unpacked, we made small talk about our favorite things and what we hoped to achieve in our new life. It felt like we were discovering each other all over again even though we have lived with each other for the rest of our lives- this new setting allowed us to explore our ideas, dreams, and aspirations without the constant fear of what could have been chasing us. We opted to forget about that for a while and have some fun. We talked about old memories, childhood dreams, and future aspirations.
We took our time going through our belongings and found some old family pictures that we placed on the nightstand. The pictures made us feel nostalgic – with everything tarnished now in the past, the memories provided some semblance of warmth and hope.
Finally, we finished unpacking and went to the bedroom. We collapsed into bed, exhausted from the long day, but excited for the future. Ivy said she didn't want to sleep alone and I had no issue with her spending the night in my room. Jassy was still asleep and I feared that she would wake up in the middle of the night due to hunger. Since her nursery was not completed yet, she was going to sleep with us. That way, we would hear her when she woke up and started crying.
"Goodnight, Ivy," I said as I turned off the lamp beside our bed.
"Goodnight," she replied, snuggling close to me.
For a few minutes, we lay there in silence, adjusting to the new surroundings. I felt the weight of a new beginning and the freedom that came with it. I turned to Ivy and held her close.
"I love you," I said softly.
"I love you too," she said, placing a gentle kiss on my cheek.
It reminded me of the times we had only each other to depend on. Yes, we still had each other's back but at least now we had multiple things to call our own. With that, we drifted off to sleep, ready to face whatever tomorrow brings. The peace and serenity we felt at that moment made it easy to put the past behind us and look toward a brighter future.
We slept soundly for hours, finally feeling safe from everything that had been chasing us. It felt like our problems were a world away and that we had finally escaped the danger that had been following us.
When we woke up the next morning, it was surreal to watch the sunlight streaming in through the windows. It was to be the first day of our new life together, and we were determined to make the best of it.
We both got up at the same time, getting ready for the day ahead. After we were dressed and ready, we went down to the kitchen and had breakfast before Little Angel woke up and made it hard for us to do our respective work. We had stocked up the night before, so we had plenty of options to choose from.
As we ate, we talked about going out and exploring the town. We had heard good things about the area from the locals, so we were excited to see what it had to offer.
After breakfast, we decided to take a walk around the property. I walked back to my room and found out that my baby was now wide awake. She was looking at her surroundings and I smiled since I knew she found it strange and unfamiliar.
"Hello sweetie," I said, diverting her attention and making her look at me. I took her up and breastfed her before bathing her. After two hours, we were done since she was playing with water as I cleaned her up. There was nothing I could do since she was happy doing that. Her smiles and laughs made my heart warm and I was glad to be a mother. Choosing which outfit you wear, I dressed her then walked out of the room to Ivy's so that we could go out for a walk. The mansion was surrounded by acres of land, with a forest on one side, and a lake on the other. We walked along the paths, admiring the beauty of nature and talking about what we could do with the land.
Ivy loved the idea of having horses and taking them for a ride around the estate. I thought it was an excellent idea. We decided to explore the town and see if we could find a horse farm.
After our morning walk, we went back to the mansion and got dressed, ready to venture into town. The drive was about thirty minutes, and we enjoyed the scenic views on the way. We arrived at the town, which was slightly bigger than we had anticipated.
We enjoyed a town hall meeting, met a few people who had quite appreciated the presence of the mansion there, and had a relaxed tea before we headed back home.
As we drove back into the mansion, we felt contentment settle over us. It felt like we were finally finding our footing in this new life. We knew that there would still be challenges along the way, but we were determined to face them together.
After a long day out, we were both tired and ready for bed. We went up to our bedroom, ready for a good night's rest. Lying in bed, we talked about how far we had come and the future that we wanted to build together.
Finally, we settled down to sleep, feeling grateful for this new life we had been given, and the opportunity to start afresh.
