The sound of ringing woke me up. The alarm said 6:30 but it felt like 5. "It's go time" I sprang out of bed. Taking a T-shirt from the closet, I took a look in the mirror. My short hair was trimmed to perfection. I did my training
I put on the shirt and went downstairs. I was greeted by my dog, James. I saw my dad who was sipping some coffee. He was reading something on his phone while watching the TV, probably an article or something.
"Hey Dad," I said as I took a bowl cupboard. I poured cereal into it. He looked at me, smiling. "Hey Bud, I feel today is gonna be good for you," he said. I finished my meal. "I definitely agree." I planned this year meticulously.
I took my classic white Nike shirt with Levi's jeans. I went to the bathroom and hopped in the shower. Once I dried, I grabbed my fully charged phone, my schoolbag, A single pencil, and some sheets of paper. Yeah like that.
"Okay, Dad see ya later," I said as I put my shoes on.
"Don't get caught in trouble and tell me what you get," he replied
"Okay"
I walked out the door towards my usual path to school.
"Yo," I heard behind me. The voice was familiar.
"Sup dude!" I said.
This was my best friend, Frankie. We've known each other since 3rd grade. He was a Latino. We did our secret handshake that involved multiple steps.
"That's how it's done, how've you been?"
"Not bad, not bad. Especially this year."
"Yeah! This year is the year!"
The fourth year of high school was special. You got to see what your magic was and your artifact. Even though high school was five years. I was stoked.
We went to a school called Fate High School. It was prestigious as it was toxic. The entrance to the school was packed. New students mixed with old crowded under the oak trees. The leaves are a vibrant orange. Two fifth-year students were dueling with their piano artifacts. I think their names were Mozart and Antonio.
The footsteps and conversations in the hallways echoed through the school. It was filled with the usual bully or two. I didn't see my bully yet so I was relieved.
I went to my new locker and opened it to reveal it was of pink envelopes. He was terrified of what was to come next.
"Hey-y Lovely~" Kama said.
She was in the same grade since elementary. I can tell you one thing she was persistent. Even junior high she was like this. Now I am always terrified to open my locker but I usually forget on the first day. However, she was not my bully but her advances nowadays have made me more nervous with her growth spurt.
"H-H-Hey Kama. How are you?" I said sweat dripping.
"Kill dat Hoe," said Frankie. He always had my back.
"Shut it fodder." She said coldly.
"Hey, if you want beef with him you got it with me too," I said.
"I could never, after all, you and I are destined." what she said gave me chills.
The situation changed when the bell rang causing a flurry of students to rush through the grounds.
"This isn't over Flonk," that was her nickname for Frankie.
All the fourth-year students were called to an assembly. He saw his bully then.
"Oy, if it isn't the wimp himself!" she said.
Her name was Jalter. He knew her for all of high school. She was known for her temper. She had white hair and wore ripped jeans and what he assumed to be a rock t-shirt. He ignored her usual antics but today was different.
"Not Today Jalter, I might be stronger than you today!"
"Yeah, Right," she said with sarcasm.
The assembly was held on the training grounds. The students were called in alphabetical order. They were to place their hand on an orb that told them their magic and summoned their artifact. It continued for a while. When it was Frankie, his was portals. His artifact was a white gun. When was Jalter, her magic was fire. Her artifact was a sword. When it was Kama's turn, she got love as her magic. Her artifact was an arrow.
Then came my turn. I went to the podium. I placed my hand on the orb. I was then transported somewhere.
"Welcome, Name Please," said a small cat-like person who had clothes who could talk.
"Y/N, Y/N L/N."
"Wait here...," she went in the back a yelled to another person that looked like her."Did you know this dummy was gonna be here, nya"
"No,"
"Well he here now, what do we do,"
"Just give him something OP nya," he said
The small cat-like person came back.
"You get this Dagger, OKAY!" she yelled.
"Ok"
"OKAY!"
"Ok, oh" I realized I had to pick it up.
When I returned It was as if time was the exact same as when he touched the orb. The orb showed void as his magic. He had the dagger of thrakos as his artifact of choice. Everyone in the audience cheered.
I looked at Jalter and gave a quick smile. I don't know if the distance was foggy but I think she blushed.
