Worth the Wait

this poem is similar to the Pity one, likewise it is about how you see someone close to you changing but overtime you see and understand them as they change through time, and how much the wait was worth it

Leaning onto your shoulder
As I watch the days go by when you grow older
Looking back to where we first started
All was well till we parted
Cold distance was all that was between us
Losing patience and all the trust
Missing the old times that we had
Hoping I could see more than the bad
Loving you hurt the most
But I did my best to cope
Sorry to see you have let go
But I vowed to never leave you alone
Walking beside you is all I ever did
By your side ever since I was a kid
I followed every step that you made
Slowly falling into the mess that was laid
Hoping one day you'd fight through it all
To see a smile on your face once and for all
I promised to always stay by your side
Never looking back till the day that I die
All those wonders and misunderstanding
Of what went through your mind and all of it's planning
Seeing now that you've completely grown
Learning to fight all on your own
Now it makes me happy to say
That I finally get to see a smile on your face
