Everyone was staring at us, and some people started nudging each other. I looked arouns any empty spots as Lily mouthed,"Sorry" to me, and went to her seat. I spotted an empty desk next to a lean guy with dark hair.

I shuffled forward, wincing as my shoes squeaked on the floor.

"Would you like to explain why you were late for class miss-?" the teacher glared.

"Erm, Jane Miller. And Lily and I-"

"We had trouble with our lockers miss" Lily cut me off.

"Very well. Both of you sit down....Now as I was saying....." She continued to drone on.

"Thanks." I mouthed towards Lily.

She grinned at me and gave a thumbs up.

"So are you new here?" The boy next to me asked.

I just looked at him, taking my notebook out.

"Just trying to make conversation." He raised his hands.

"Well don't." I said.

"I can see that," he snatched my notebook out of my hands.

"Give it back," I whispered, "before you get us into trouble."

"C'mon." He rolled his eyes .

I snatched my notebook back, "Leave me alone."

"Ouch." He smirked.

"Miss Miller and Mr. Ramsey, is there something you'd like to share with the class?" The teacher snapped.

"We were-" Alan began.

"I'm sorry miss, he asked to borrow my notes is all." I shot him a dirty look.

"Hmph, well don't let me catch you talking again...And Mr. Ramsey, I suggest you write your own notes unless you want to find yourself in detention."

I nodded my head and ducked my head.

"Sooo are you just playing hard to get or what?" He poked me with his pen.

"Look, you seem like a...nice guy, but I'd really appreciate it if you'd just leave me alone." I said without looking up.

The bell rang, so I gathered my stuff, grabbed Lilly's's hand, and pulled her out of the classroom, leaving Alan grinning behind me.
