My life has always been a little different than everyone else's. I was born in a small town in Texas. I won't bother telling you what city, no one's heard of it anyway. When I was a little girl, I spent a lot of time with my cousins because both of my parents worked. Almost all of my mom's side was Mexican, so naturally, we had a big family. Now as I look back, I realize that I was different from them too. When my mom had me, I inherited some of my pop's looks. All my cousins had dark skin, dark hair, and dark eyes. But I had lighter skin, I was still tan compared to your basic white person, but it was definitely lighter than all of my mom's side. And I had hazel eyes, which is strange considering I didn't get them from either of my parents- just saying.Anyway, around second grade, pop's was offered a new job opportunity in Tennessee. My parents decided to take a chance with it. When we got there, we moved in with my dad's mom. I really looked up to her, but I missed my family in the South. They enrolled me in a small Christian school close to the house. At that time, my faith didn't mean that much to me. I knew that my mom was Catholic, and so was I, but my pop wasn't really involved in any religion. We didn't practice our faith much; or at all really.
When we moved I was really excited to meet new people. Tennessee was really different for all of us. I was used to palm trees and mountains. When my parents enrolled me at St. Luke in Memphis, I didn't realize how hard it would be to make new friends. Of course, we were all third graders, so eveveryone pretty much got along. After a week of torture, I met two new friends: Marlie and Olivia. We did everything together and that school yeat flew by. By the end of it, my parents had found a house in Nashville, bought it, and decided to move.
By the end of that year, we moved six times and I had gone to seven different schools. The one thing I had learned was to keep my head down; if I didn't make any friends, I didn't have to worry about losing anything. That was my motto. And I stuck by it. But everything changed when I started my sophomore year.
Comments anyone? I know this Chapter was a little slow, but I wanted to introduce my characters background. The next chapter will get into more fun details. Please, if you have suggestions, let me know.
