The Christmas Wish

Fifth year Halloween pt.3 (full moon)

Three weeks had passed since all four of the Mischief Managers had been pulling pranks but they forgot one vital moment of each month, The Lunar Cycle. however thankfully Remus had remembered since two days before he had been complaining of joint pain to Sirius and telling him how he's been getting worse every full moon and how he doesn't think that he should come this time which then made Sirius feel bad for Remus saying "Remus why are you saying this now since I've always been there for you and we will always be together when it happens since all three of us would never ever want you to go through it alone, I know your afraid of hurting us but Remus honestly its not you who's in control and we know our boundaries when keeping you and the rest of us safe ok." Remus was given an embrace by all three of the boys making him feel safe and as if he wasn't a hindrance.

Two days had passed and it was the night of the full moon. All four of the boys had decided to take the day off schoolwork since it was best for them to be with their friend leading up to the full moon since they knew how much pain it caused him and made him feel emotionally. As the night begun they could see how much pain a young Remus Lupin was in and Sirius Cradled him saying " Hey, its going to be ok Remus its all going to be over soon." As the four headed outside and watched their friend transform they got ready for their transformations into animagi since it was the safest option for them to not be harmed since Remus was not in control of his actions and you could never ever know what could cross a werewolves mind. As the night went on and the full moon soon disappeared Remus was left exhausted laying on the ground, he had gained more scars on his face, arms, legs and back and had bruises everywhere from fighting the others that night. Whilst they had managed to keep themselves unharmed Remus had ended up with quite bad battle injuries so Sirius carried him back to the dorm where he lay Remus down and told him to "Get some rest".

As the three other boys got ready for bed this gave them a sense that they couldn't carry on with the pranks for the time being since Remus wouldn't be himself for a few days and sometimes it would last weeks before Remus felt up to lessons again or even up for getting out of bed. As the boys settled down into bed James, Sirius and Pete all exchanged a "Goodnight". Preparing for the morning of when Remus would wake up.

As the sunlight shone through the dorm window Sirius was awakened, though he wasn't a morning person Sirius would often be woken by the sunlight since he always left the curtains open to look at the stars and glaze up wishing that one day there would be a cure for Remus' condition. As he peered to the side he saw Remus in the foetal position curled up in pieces because his face had been plagued with yet another scar. He said to Sirius " What did I ever do to deserve this, I never did anything to anyone and yet here I am like this." this completely broke Sirius to hear this coming out of his best friends mouth since he loved him and all Sirius wanted to do was kiss him and tell him its all going to be ok. Instead Sirius brought Remus into his arms cradling him as if he was a child saying " Remus don't worry its fine its all going to be ok we have each other and were going to get through this ok." Remus looked up to Sirius tears flowing down his face saying "Don't tell the others please Pads I don't want them to worry about me.." Sirius then saying " I wont I promise Remus." this is the worst that Sirius had ever seen Remus he normally was used to going through the transformation and the cycle but this time it had effected him even more than usual. Sirius thought to himself " I just wish I could take all his pain away and let him live the life he deserves."

Two weeks went by and it was soon the last day of October. Remus had decided to attend lessons that day after Sirius had helped minimise the scars with some foundation and concealer that he had from the girls that they lent him in fourth year to be able to " make his looks more fabulous." Remus feeling more confident got through another day of school. Once the whole school day had passed it was soon the Halloween celebration since Halloween was one of the most important nights of the year for witches and wizards since they could participate in activities such as apple bobbing and ghost hunting with the ghosts from around the castle.

As the night went on more and more mischief was unfolding around the castle the four boys were scaring the younger years and hiding around the castle with the invisibility cloak trying to cause as much chaos as humanly possible in one night. Whilst they were doing this both Remus and Sirius were lurking together around the castle making sure to hide behind every corner whenever they came across someone who they wanted to scare that night. There were many people on the scare list of who they wanted to target and on the top of their list was McGonigal since she was the most difficult to scare, it was as if she had eyes on the back of her head she was that aware of her surroundings. So to Pete ,James ,Sirius and Remus it was their number one target. As the night went on having them follow McGonigal around the castle with the invisibility cloak it was as getting late and as soon as they were going to give up hope James had the greatest of ideas " Hey Sirius." James whispered Sirius mouthed "What???" James with a growing smirk on his face whispered back " We could catch McGonagall outside she's always alone outside when she patrols around and it would be the perfect trick if we hid behind the fountain in the courtyard and jumped out and scared her that would be the cherry on top of the evening wouldn't it Pads?" Sirius extremely exited agreed. All four of them started to creep up behind the fountain and wait for McGonigal, they waited a matter of minutes before she came out of the Great Hall where she had been supervising students with their potion making since it was one of the key parts of Halloween being able to make a potion that could cause you or your peers top change colour. All for of the boys waited for the exact time and jumped out at McGonigal, they heard a screech of fear followed by " Good prank boys I'll let you off this time since it is Halloween after all, now head up to your dorms its late." The four who were ecstatic that they had managed to get past McGonigal did as they were told and headed up to their dorms where they would read ghost stories until one of them either got to scared or decided to sleep, Pete was the best at ghost stories, followed by Remus, then James and finally Sirius.
