Chell breathes in quickly as her eyes snap open, flailing around slightly as she tries to get up. She scans the room, noticing that it wasn't her own, but knew where she was. A hand gently rests on her shoulder.
"It's okay! It's okay, luv. Just a nightmare. Nothing to be scared of anymore, right?"
She turns and looks up at Wheatley, not even caring that he had called her 'luv'. She hated him acting like that, mostly because of that flirtatious Adventure Core, Rick...Maybe it was just the accent. His eyes shine with caring and worry, but on his face was a slight, comforting smile.
"Are you...Are you sure that you're alright? J-just give me a nod, or something...Uhm..."
She could almost see his thoughts running through his brain, trying to think of something nice to say, no matter how absurd. He awkwardly removes his hand from her shoulder, instead he pulls her ever-so-gently into a hug. She curls up into his side, sighing quietly. She enjoyed being with him nowadays. It was a different story about one or two years ago, when he and the Space Core returned from space and ended up back in their human bodies. She had hated him. He had gained her trust. He had promised her freedom. He had helped her take down Her down easily. He had punched her into a pit...He had tried to kill her. He apologised almost every second he could, along with his nervous ramblings not making the situation better. To be honest, she did forgive him. Eventually, according to Her, the mute lunatic spoke, and forgave the moron. A quiet tear slips from her cheek as she bows her head. A year, it had taken for her to verbally forgive Wheatley. But that was on top of three years of space and the remote outdoors. It had taken her that lo-
"W-w-wait, are you crying? N-no, stop crying, okay? I-I-I mean, it's okay to c-cry, but, y-you don't need to!...Erm..."
Wheatley tries to shake the tear off his hand, the one that had slipped from her face. A bright blush runs across his face when he realises that Chell was hugging him around his waist, extremely close to him. He lowers his hand that he was attempting (and failing) to shake the tear off. A small sigh emits from him as he puts his arm down, relaxing quite a bit.
"Are you...Are you alright? Well, actually, thinking about it, you're not alright, are you? You were just crying! But it's okay! It's okay to cry, just...Don't? If that makes any sense. Which it probably doesn't."
Chell smiles and chuckles a little, releasing her tight hug and settling down. After all, your best friend is the one who makes everything better, right?
