—————-"Run faster!"
I lifted the back of my hand to my forehead, wiping off the beads of sweat trailing down from my hair line. The weather was absolutely sweltering for your average mid-September day. The sun blaring down on my tanned shoulders, and the heat begging me to slow my pace.
My gaze raised from the sidewalk, watching her brown locks blow in the wind from the back as she rode her bicycle in front of me. It wasn't long before she began to pedal too fast, distancing herself from me, and she peeked her head over her shoulder, noticing the gap and swiftly made a left down a driveway, riding toward me down the street and then pulling up along side me.
"C'mon, slow-poke. You're making me ride like a granny," she giggled, reaching her left hand up from the bars and pushing my shoulder as she rode beside me.
"How 'bout... you run... and I bike?" I spoke out between breaths.
She pursed her lips, squinting her eyes up to the sky in pretend thought before dropping her gaze back down.
"Nah, I think I'm good. But thanks for offering," she laughed, making me shake my head. "Look, we're almost at the house. Try to keep up!" she shouted before taking off down the sidewalk, leaving me in the dust.
I let out a breathy laugh at her antics, finding it silly the way she pedaled so quickly on the bike like she was a small child. When she reached the house, she quickly turned the bike on the driveway, catching my eyes before shooting her hands up in the air in victory. I rolled my eyes, pushing my feet to go faster and into a sprint all the way to the house.
It had been a few months since Alycia and I decided to move in together, and it was pretty easy to figure out who's place we were going to live in, considering I only had a small apartment, and she had been gifted an actual house by her late mother and father. As much as it hurt my 'masc lesbian ego' to not have been the one to provide the home for us, I was pleased that I could at least make up for it by paying our electricity and water bills.
I know.. Pride is a dumb thing. I'm blessed with a house and a hot girlfriend, and here I am, begging to pay her bills for her.
I rested my hands on my knees, catching my breath from the run as Alycia biked up close and began riding circles around me. I pushed off my knees, a smirk growing on my lips as I stepped in front of her and held out my arms, going to pull her in for a hug.
"No no no," she giggled, quickly turning around to avoid me. "Not until after you shower. You smell like a sweaty ball-sack."
"Yeah, you would know, wouldn't you?"
She dropped her jaw, gasping as she rode away from me again, and I lifted my hands in a shrug, smiling as I walked to the side of the house. I turned the knob of the garden spout until water began to pour into the hose, and then I leaned myself over, sighing at the feeling of the cool water running down my head. After a second, I flipped my hair back, finding Alycia riding up and down the driveway on the bike, and I saw this as my chance to press my thumb into the opening of the garden hose, raining it down on the driveway.
"Y/N!" she squealed, dropping the bike and nearly tripping over it as she took off down the sidewalk. I dropped to my knees, clutching my stomach in laughter, which only increased at the sight of her walking back, looking pissed off. When her gaze met mine, her serious expression quickly broke, and she bit her lip to hold back her smile.
"You're mean," she giggled, crossing her arms over her chest, and I pressed my hand into the outer wall of the house, using my other to wipe the tears from my eyes.
