I must have fallen asleep again, as the sound of footsteps entering the room forced my heavy eyes open. Absentmindedly, I went to push myself up, but was met with her delicate touch, the same as last time."Hey, hey, you're alright.."
I let out a quiet groan, my body being sure to remind me of the recent events, and Alycia gave me a sad smile.
"Matthews is here."
I barely shifted my gaze to the familiar doctor standing next to her, giving an awkward wave.
"Hey, Y/n, sorry we're meeting like this again."
I lifted my head from the bed, blinking my eyes back into focus but the light from the room was making me nauseas, so I just dropped my head back down.
"I'm fine," I mumbled, closing my eyes again. "I just need a doctor's note so I can go back to-"
I felt the sheet pulled off of me, and I shivered at the cold, opening my eyes to see Alycia looking at Matthews with concern, ignoring my own opinion of the situation.
"Hey, a warning next time would be-"
"Jesus, what happened? Did you fall off a building?" he scoffed, pressing his stupid hand right where it hurt and I flinched harshly.
"I'd like to call it a 'controlled fall.' More of a roll, if you'd call it. I landed in a bush, so it's all good."
Alycia shot me a disapproving glare before turning back to Matthews with her arms crossed. "She fell off the roof of a two story building and landed on her airtank."
"She was kinda hit with the hose while we were ventilating and slammed into the corner of the roof before falling off completely," a voice added from the door, and we all turned to find Joel pulling the curtain closed, a guilty look on his face.
"Sure, come in, why don't you? Now that everybody's here-" I added sarcastically, but it seemed that my credibility had been lost at this point, as everyone only wanted to discuss with each other on what happened to me.
"Who the hell hit her with the hose?!" Alycia raised her voice, clearly getting worried again, but there was nothing I could do now.
"Frank," Joel rolled his eyes. "It was an accident, but he's being talked to right now."
"Did she hit her head?" she asked him again because apparently my answer wasn't good enough and Matthews resumed poking at my back.
"ow- no-"
"No, but you might want to look at her shoulder. She hit that first before she went down."
I groaned and Alycia walked to the other side of the bed, looking at my shoulders carefully while I sent a death glare to my former partner.
Go away- I mouthed to him and he threw his shoulders back, nodding his chin up in annoyance.
Fuck off- he mouthed back.
"Okay, Y/n, we're gonna get a couple scans of your back real quick, and if everything comes back clear, you'll get discharged."
"And then can I go back to work?"
"No!" Alycia and Joel both cut in and Matthews shook his head in a laugh.
"I'd suggest you just take it easy for the day, but that is only if everything comes back clean. Then, we'll get you back to working in no time!" Dr Matthews gave us all a nod before exiting the room while both Joel and Alycia turned to me with their arms crossed as if I was in some sort of trouble.
