The life of an assistant isn't easy.

Much like the life of an agent, your constantly on the clock. If your agent is sent on a sudden mission, your immediately required to drop everything and go back to your computer where you monitor the agent on their mission, and be their eyes and ears from the sky.

Not saying that the life of an assistant is as hard as the one of an agent, but it definitely isn't easy.

Like agents, assistants are also required to live in the DSO dorms. People are separated from their families and social lives for this job, the pay is worth is. But you quite literally become their slave. Your expected to leave everything behind. Your friends, your kids, your spouses, everything. It's not uncommon for people to have mental breakdowns, and in some cases. Some people have jumped off their balcony; killing themselves.

Of course your given time to visit your family, which happens every few years. But even then, the damage has already been done. The things you'll see, hear, and have to do would have already consumed your mind.

And you'll never be able to live a normal life ever again.

"It's all for their sake. We need to stop this virus to give them a better world to live in. A world where they don't have to worry about getting eaten alive."

That's what they tell every newcomer on their first day. It's a cycle that you've already seen to many times to count. And a cycle you've had to experience yourself.

In the beginning, your dedicated, resilient, organized. Later on you start becoming a bit anxious, cranky, and fatigued. Then finally you reach the breaking point where you cry yourself to sleep, stop eating, cut your wrists, and question your reason to live in such a cruel and disgusting world.

And then comes the last stage. Acceptance, or in other words. Learning to shove it all down and putting up with it, hiding the mental torture and strain it puts you through just like the others do.

Unfortunately some people aren't that strong, and it leads to sending a letter to their families, telling them of their suicide.

There's a reason why this job is always in need of more people, and why your automatically required to sign a contract that doesn't hold the organization liable. The interviewing process isn't a walk in the park either, it's a two week process where your actions and mental health is monitored every single day.

And once your hired, your run through the basics and are taught of the basic combat and firearm training and licensing. Every assistant is required to at least know the basics of self defense and how to shoot a gun, along with being certified in CPR and know how to give medical attention.

Anything can happen in this world. It's the days of an apocalypse and a virus spreading like wildfire, consuming everything and destroying everything.

The pay is guaranteed a life full of wealth, and you'll never have to worry about being out of a job or not having a place to live or food to eat. Everything is provided for. The food, the hygiene, the shelter, and the small bit of entertainment they have around the organization. For example the pool table, or the saunas.

Then again there hardly used. Nobody has the time to use the pool table or the saunas.

Not when they're in the middle of an apocalypse.
