I arrive at the office and toss the documents onto Sarah’s desk before heading into my office. She looks at the papers, then up at me.

- Good morning to you too.
- Sorry, morning, but you wanted them signed, and here they are.
- Yeah, that was fast. You look nice today.

She looks me up and down.

- As opposed to…
- No, I just mean, this outfit compliments you. I don’t know if it’s the clothes or what, but you’re glowing.

I shrug and look down.

- Just figured I’d switch things up a bit.
- I see. Well, appreciate your work on getting these papers signed.
- It was nothing.
- Nah, don’t sell yourself short. At the you’re going, this merger will be finalized in a couple of days.
- One can only hope. At least Connor is easy to work with.
- Said no one, ever. You’re like the billionaire whisperer. No one else can talk to him, let alone work with him, the way you do.
- I’m sure that’s not true. Trust me, it’s not a big deal.
- Um, trust me, it is. I don’t know how you do it.

I shake my head and walk into my office. I sit down behind my desk and exhale. Worry floods my mind that the office will pick up on something between me and Connor. I don’t want people to know there is anything between us. If this gets out, it will look so bad. I take a deep inhale and exhale.

- Alright, get to work. There’s a lot to do.

As I work through the never – ending stack of papers on my desk, I hang my head. Resting my forehead in my palm. Marc walks by my office and sees me.

- Don’t say a word. I got you, honey. You look like you’re having a tough go at it today.

I look up, baffled. He walks behind me and rubs my shoulders. My body relinquishes into the soothing pressure.

- Ugh, you’re too good to me.
- That’s true. Sounds like I need a raise.
- I’ll see what I can do. No promises, though.
- I’m not asking for much, just double my salary, and add a few extra vacation days.
- Not much, huh?
- What are you still doing here anyway? Your work is done for the day.
- I still have a million more things to get through.
- Nothing that can’t be helped with. Go home early. I can hold down the fort.
- There are still some things that need my signature.
- Girl, go! Don’t stay here just to sign papers. I can drop off anything that needs your signature later.
- Well, it would be nice to get out early, I could use the rest.
- Your dark circles will thank you.
- Ha, appreciate that. I haven’t slept much the last two nights, so they’ve come out to play.
- You mean the last two, knights. Or should I say, Mr. Knights?

Marc squeezes my shoulder emphasizing the mister.

-  Stop it! There’s nothing there.
-  Oh, please! I’ve seen how you two look at each other!
-  Like professionals? Colleagues? That’s all we are.
-  Sure. A couple of professionals are between the sheets.
- You hush!

Suddenly my phone buzzes. It’s a text from Connor. I glance over and smile.

- Missing my touch, Princess.
- Missing you, my Knight.
- Well, well, speak of the devil.
- It’s nothing. It’s work – related. I’m going to head out of here. You call me if you need anything.
- Sure thing, boss.

I leave my office, and Sarah notices I am about to head out.

- Hey, are you leaving?
- Yeah, going to head out early. Hopefully, get some rest tonight.
-  It’s deserved. Need a lift?
-  It’s okay, no need to hassle yourself.
-  It’s no hassle, you’re on the way home anyway.
- Well, could be nice to save the cab fare.
- And have some one – on – one sister time.
- One – on – one sister time? We see each other every day!
- Yeah, but we don’t get to talk.
- Um, yes, we do. We talk every day.
- Not about the important staff.
- What important staff?
-  You know your personal life, what you’re up to in your spare time, your love life. So, let’s go, are you coming?

She looks at me knowingly and raises a brow. Oh my god, does she know about Connor?

I get in Sarah’s car and head home.

- Thanks for driving me.
- Yeah, no problem. It’s on my route anyway. So, how are things with Andrew?
