I follow Emma to a table, watching the floor flow carefully.

-  Your head should always be on a swivel.
-  So, I see, a lot is going on.
-  Yep, and while on the floor, I’m in charge of all of it. All right, so here, we’re going to follow the money from the floor to the vault. This should give you a good idea of the procedure and how things run here.

I nod as I stop in front of a table.

-  Got it. How often do you visit the vault in a day?

Emma rolls her eyes slightly.

-  Just watch, okay?

I nod once more and watch the chips flow. Suddenly a familiar towering frame draws closer to me.

- How’s my favorite girl doing?
- Oh hey, things are…
- Things are going well!

Emma beams and bats her eyelashes at Connor.

- Yeah, things are going great.
- Glad to hear it. Do you have any more insight yet?

I shake my head.

-  No, I haven’t seen enough yet to come up with anything concrete. But, maybe once we make our way to the vault and do some recounting, something will come up.
- Noted.

I watch on at the table as the dealer shuffles cards and passes them to patrons.

- This is interesting. Watching all this unfold. Is this a popular table for patrons?
- It’s a casino, every table is popular.
- I mean, does it bring in a lot of…

Suddenly a customer throws his cards down on the table.

- This is bullshit.
-  Excuse me, sir, the cards don’t lie.
-  No, but you’re dealing the cards weirdly! The whole system is fucked, you’re cheating.
-  I assure you, sir, the cards are dealt the same, no matter who is dealing them.
- Bullshit! This is rigged!
-  Sir, please…
- Give my money back, you cheater.
-  Sir, there is no need to raise your voice. Connor said.
-  Fuck you, give me my money back.

Connor takes a step forward and towers over the man.

-  Sir, I’m going to have to ask you to…
- Shut up! I’m not talking to you.
- Keep your voice down, or you’re out of here. Connor said.
-  Are you serious? Are you threatening me right now?
- I am. Quiet down, or we’ll be taking you outside.
-  Exit is that way.

I point toward the exit. The man rolls his eyes and grunts.

-  Fine, I’m done here anyway.

The man leaves and I notice Emma eyeing Connor in admiration.

- That was well handled. Your presence is always appreciated on the floor.
- Yes, thank you for that. I said.

Emma gently caresses Connor’s arm.

- Things look well managed here.
Maybe we should go upstairs and sort the files in your office.

Connor looks at her coldly and subtly moves his arm away.

- No need. My place is here right now.
- Well, I’ll the experts get back to work so we can continue our floor tour.
- Alright, let’s move on.
- You’ve seen enough of the floor. We should head down to the vault. Connor said.
- Well, that works too, but how about we stop for a drink on the way down?

Connor nods, and we all leave, heading toward the bar. Upon arriving at the bar, Emma makes her way behind the counter and leans forward into Connor.

-  What can I make you this evening?
-  The usual.
-  Oh, you must come here often.

I smile at Connor as Emma makes two drinks, one for herself and one for Connor.

- Here, you go.

She winks at Connor, lifts her glass, and clinks it against his. Connor notices I don’t have a drink.
