Nestled within the thickets of the lush
green forest of Bhaskar Van were the
famous hills of Ugra Parvat. This hilly
region was nothing like its name. In fact,
it was more of a misnomer as people
inhabiting the surrounding villages had
names it so. It was for a certain reason
that the villagers named the hills like
that. And this very reason was soon to
prove highly disastrous for their king-
dom. But no one spoke openly about the
same. Tourists, travelers, traders and
other distant visitors frequented the
borders of the kingdom time and again.
Many saints, pilgrims, herb collectors
would visit the state occasionally. All of
them were always duly entertained and
well looked after. King Karunesh took
great care of every newcomer in his
kingdom. He himself took the guests to
his royal residence and offered them a
brief stay in his guest lodgings. The
servants were instructed to look after the
wants and comforts of the visitors very
closely. The choicest food, drinks and
beverages were prepared and every
guest was served with utmost humility.
Irrespective of the social and financial
status of the visitors, they all were given
equal treatment. The guests were also
taken for sightseeing and farmland tours
in the royal carriage. The traders' lane,
flea markets, and beautiful gardens filled
with the rarest and most exotic plants
topped the list. Princess Karuna too
followed in her father's footsteps and
ensured that the guests carried happy
memories of their brief stints within the
grand kingdom of Kampilya.
