Nicole was drawn to the Yang's house, there was always something there that pulled her attention immediately. Like the familiar little gnomes Mei Yang placed out front in her garden. Or the miscellaneous bricks Jonah left out on an unfinished project.

But most of all it's because it felt more like home than her house. Mei was constantly baking delicious treats for her bakery business. She would welcome Nicole with open arms and offer to stuff her up because she was 'too skinny' in Mei's eyes. So when Baker parked the car in his driveway, Nicole quickly got out. Her feet moved so quickly she almost tripped a few times.

Nicole pushed through the front door, her senses overwhelmed by the magnificent smell of freshly baked peanut butter cookies. Mei turned around from the stove, her clothes covered in flour and oil. The older woman let out a dramatic gasp and made her way over to Nicole.

"Nicole Scott, what a surprise dear." she smiled. Nicole was in the middle of taking off her shoes when Mei enveloped her in a tight hug. It was a miracle nothing got onto Nicole's shirt. "What happened to your lip dear?"

"Mrs. Yang, it's been too long and I tripped down the stairs last night." Nicole hummed as they pulled away from each other. Mei shook her head, waving her hand before pointing at Nicole. "I told you to call me Mei, I've known you since you were yay high."

Nicole shook her head but smiled nonetheless. "Of course, Mei."

"And I've told Baker to bring you over but that boy, you know he's got his head in the clouds." Mei teases. As if on cue Baker finally makes it into the house with their bags in his hand.

"Did I hear my name Ma?" He called, shoving his shoes off. "Oh just telling Nicole about my adorable son."

"Maaaaa" Baker whined. Nicole laughed quietly while Mei offered a wink. Baker rolled his eyes before he tugged on Nicole's arm.

"You wanna go do homework?" Baker asked. Mei's ears perked up and she turned to her son. "Homework? You? Nicole, what have you done to my son?" she laughed, shaking her head in the process. Baker gave his mother a pointed look but she was a mother, there was no controlling what left her mouth.

"Yeah Bake, let's go." Nicole smiled, taking her bag from him.

Homework that usually took Nicole an hour to do took her two hours that day. She would've finished sooner if Baker didn't get up every minute to take a break. Not that she minded. It was an encouraged distraction.

Eventually when they finished they both collectively sighed with relief. If Baker had to sit still for even another second he would've freaked out. So he got off his bed, threw his books and papers onto his desk before picking up Nicole. With a surprised shriek she started squirming in his grip but he held her firmly. After a moment she relaxed as much as she could. He made his way out of his room and down the hall to the living room. He dropped Nicole onto the couch with a laugh.

She let out a grunt as her body hit the cushions. Then she grabbed a throw pillow and threw it at Baker's head. "You didn't have to pick me up dummy, I have two legs of my own."

"What's the fun in that?" he laughed and threw the pillow back at her. Mei came around the corner with her brow raised. "Are you two finished with your homework?"

"Yeah Ma" "Yeah Mei."

Mei smiled and dusted her hands onto her apron. She swiped her hand, signaling the two to come into the kitchen. Baker and Nicole looked at each other before smiling before they headed toward the kitchen.
