I ran across the beach, kicking up small clouds of sand behind me. I dodged a blow to my shoulder and swung my fist into my opponents gut. They reeled back and prepared to swing at me again. I cart wheeled out of the way then grabbed their fist. I used all my body weight to flip them on their back. I then put my foot to their throat, preventing them from further attacking. They tapped their hand against the ground signaling their surrender. I smirked at my fallen opponent.
"Had enough?" I asked knowing the answer. I removed my foot and extended my hand. They gratefully accepted it and I hosted him up.
"Whoo- hoo! Go Kairi!" Cheered a slightly ecstatic Selphie. "You kicked his butt!"
"Only because I let her win!" The once fallen Tidus exclaimed.
"Oh come on brudda. She beat you fair n square and you know it." Wakka said as he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah! Kairi's gotten a lot stronger than you two! She's the best fighter on the whole island!" Yelled Selphie.
"I don't know about that but I did just beat Tidus down." I smiled in his direction.
He glared at me and stuck out his tongue. Ever since I made it back to the islands I've been learning how to fight and defend myself. Wakka and Tidus have been teaching me sword fighting and I've been learning hand to hand combat. Being cocky, Tidus
said he could beat me easily but he was the one who ended up on the ground while I haven't even broken a sweat."Kairi! Let's go get a victory ice cream! You can have one to celebrate and Tidus can have one to ice his sore ego!" She said batting her eyelashes innocently.
"Hey! I'm not a sore loser!" Tidus defended.
Selphie stuck out her tongue and ran to hide behind Wakka. I smiled at their antics. I've spent a lot more time hanging out with them since Riku and him left.
"Sure Selphie. That sounds nice." I said smiling.
"Yay!!! Let's go!" She yelled as she grabbed my arm and started to drag me away from the beach.
As the four if us made our way to the local ice cream shop I noticed a black shadow moving near the corner of the road. I tried to get a better look but Wakka put his arm around my shoulder moving me along.
"You okay Kai?" He asked concerned.
"Yeah. Just thought Id seen something. It must have been my imagination." I said brushing it aside.
We grabbed the sweet treats and sat outside. A warm breeze swirled around the palm trees making them shake. I took a bite out of my strawberry ice cream and thought about how much had changed in the last three years since it happened.
-Flashback-
The two patches of land started to shake and drift apart. I desperately held on to his hand, but I couldn't hang on.
"Kairi! Remember what you said to me before? Well I'll always be with you too! I'll come back to you! I promise!" He yelled as our fingertips started brake apart.
"I know you will!" I yelled as he began to fade out of sight.
Goodbye Sora.
-End-
Lair, I silently thought. It's been three years since that happened. Three years since Sora and Riku have been missing. Three years since I've been left on this island and three years since Sora broke his promise. He hasn't even sent some kind of a letter to me!
