Sunlight started to drift into the open windows as I opened my eyes. I stood up and stretched. I looked over at Selphie who was sprawled out on her stomach, snoring.
I rolled my eyes and threw a pillow at her face. She jumped up looking around and glared at me.
"Come on. Get up and let's go talk to Jasmine." I said changing into my new arabic clothes.
"Alllrrriiiggghhhttt." Selphie whined.
Once we were both fully dressed we walked out into the magnificent garden to find Jasmine.
"What do you mean you can't find him?" Someone yelled.
We turned around to find Jasmine arguing with some palace guards.
"I'm sorry princess but we were knocked out. When we woke up he was gone." The guard tried to explain.
"Well we have to find him!" Jasmine yelled back.
"Jasmine what's wrong?" I asked as we ran to her.
"It's terrible! Aladdin hasn't come back from the desert! He's been missing since last night!" Jasmine said, nearly in tears.
"It will be alright, Jasmine." I said hugging her. "Selphie and I will go look for him."
"We will?" Asked Selphie.
"Of course. Consider it our thank you for letting us stay here." I said firmly.
"Come on Selphie." I said grabbing her hand before anymore protests.
We walked till we were right outside the town. Once we reached the sand dunes we noticed footprints leading deeper into the desert.
"We're going out there?" Asked Selphie.
"Yep." I replied. "It's the least we can do to repay them."
"If you say so." She said following me across the golden sand.
We walked till we came across stone ruins of what seemed to be an old city. The stones were dark gray unlike the sun bleached walls of Agrabh.
I let my fingers graze one on the cement blocks.
It was wet.
"Selp, feel this wall. It's wet but it hasn't rained and there's no water for at least a hundred miles." I said as she came to examine it.
"Hmm. That's strange. Why would someone just throw water around?" She pondered out loud.
I was about to suggest continuing looking around when my body was suddenly slammed into the ground, knocking the wind out of me. Before I could even think about what was going on, I was shot into the air. I tried to process what was going on. I was at least twelve feet into the air and I was. Wet?
I fell to the ground, able to land on my feet but slipping in the now forming puddle.
"Kairi! Are you okay? Where's all this water coming from?" Selphie yelled while helping me up.
I saw the puddle start to quake beneath our feet. I grabbed Selphie's waist and jumped out of the way.
"Watch out!" I screamed as another gassier erupted where we were once standing.
"Dance Water, Dance!" I heard someone chanting.
Selphie pointed to a figure in a black coat. Another one!
I pulled Selphie behind me and grabbed my staff. The figure pulled back his hood to reveal a guy with a cross between a Mohawk and a mullet.
He hand a strange weapon which looked like a giant guitar. He smiled at us and strummed the instrument which shot more spirals of water into the air.
I pushed Selphie out of the way and dodged the deadly gassiers.
"Hello ladies. I'm Demyx and I'm here to... to. What was I supposed to do again?" He said pulling out a notecard.
"Defeat and apprehend the red headed princess of heart. Oh yeah that!" He exclaimed throwing the slip of paper over his shoulder.
Who reads fighting directions off a notecard?
"Yeah. Well good luck because Kairi is going to kick your A double S!" Shouted Selphie from the sidelines.
The Demyx guy seemed to notice Selphie for the first time. He grinned and splashed her with a ring of water, soaking her.
"Hey!" She yelled outraged while he started laughing.
I took the chance to strike him while he was distracted. I ran with my staff raised but slipped and ended up face planting instead.
His attention turned back to me as I was trying to get up. He strummed his weird weapon again and four humanoid water clones appeared.
They boxed me in. I tried to manipulate the water but his hold was to strong. The water clones shot gusts of water at me. I ended up losing my grip on my staff, dropping it. I ran trying to dodge the water spouts.
What element would work? Wind wouldn't really do anything. Fire and water would cancel each other out. I can't cause an earthquake if I keep getting shot into the air. What will work? Ice!
As I was thrown back by another spiral of water, Selphie grabbed a bunch of rocks and started to throw them at Demyx.
"Leave Kairi alone!" She yelled.
"Hey! That hurts! Stop that!" Demyx yelled shielding his face. "Your going to damage my strair!"
I got back to my feet and slammed my hands into the nearest gassiar. Ice formed around me and froze all the connecting streams of water.
Demyx looked up with an horrified expression.
"Hey! I can't control my water clones now!" He said like a little kid.
"That's the idea!" Yelled Selphie.
I grabbed my staff and hit the striar, knocking it out of his hands. The frozen clones and water spouts broke with shards of ice flying everywhere.
Demyx put his hands up in surrender.
"Okay. Let's just talk this out." He stuttered.
I raised my staff ready to strike.
"Alright. Maybe not." He said summoning a dark portal.
He quickly stepped through but I could swear I saw him wink at Selphie.
"Kairi are you alright?" Selphie yelled running to me.
"Yeah I'm fine." I said hugging her.
I was about ask of she was okay when we heard a groan. I ran behind a pile of rocks to see Aladdin passed out.
I gently shook his shoulder. His eyes fluttered open.
"Aladdin what happened to you?" I asked as he came to.
"I got knocked out by this blast of water. This strange guy in a black coat yelled Dance Water Dance and streams of water came at me at all different angles." He explained while rubbing his head.
"Well you won't have to worry about him anytime soon. We took care of him." I said helping him up.
"Really? Thank you." Aladdin smiled.
I smiled in return but Tidus and Wakka were now on my mind. What if one of those organization guys found them before us.
A familiar dizzy sensation started to envelop me. I grabbed Selphie's hands as my vision got blurry. I knew what was happening this time.
"Aladdin. Go back to the palace. Jasmine is worried about you. Tell her we said thank you for everything but we have to leave." I said as our bodies started to shimmer.
I closed my eyes as the desert landscape started to disappear and opened them to a familiar array of colors.
The voice didn't speak this time but it didn't matter. I knew I was on the right path to finding my friends.
I smiled as everything went black.
