When Changhui took out his knife and slashed Donald across the arm, Donald was momentarily paralyzed.
He was briefly frozen in shock that someone was actually using a knife against him since most of his enemies opted for bare fists or metal bats or wooden beams as a choice of weapon. Honestly, it was surprisingly that no one had ever pulled a pepper spray out in desperation or tried running him over with their motorcycles.
However for those few seconds after getting cut, he was frozen as he recalled the memory of his stepfather attacking his mother with a knife.
Rage helped him overcome the paralysis and he quickly disarmed Changhui and used the knife to his own advantage, cutting Changhui across his forehead while filming it.
