Perched on the windowsill peering in..the owl took in the view of her sleeping ..her raven locks covering the pale green pillows, her slender body turning from side to side ..he could tell she was not in a peaceful slumber,he longed to be able to get through the glass separating them.

She was still as beautiful ,he hadn't realised how much seeing her would affect him,he was desperate to be able to soothe her from whatever was troubling her enough to call his name...for now all he could do was observe.

The days passed as he kept watch ,he saw her leave her apartment...followed her as she went to college..she did not appear to have many friends, she kept herself to herself and he was pleased ...no..relieved ..that he saw no male coming close to her.

On the fourth day as he sat on the sill again..she opened the window..she almost screamed as she saw her visitor..as she held her hand to her mouth..he simply gazed at her not wanting to frighten her anymore,he could not reveal himself untill she said she needed him, he silently begged her with his eyes. Sarah stared at the owl..not making the connection and closed the window and sat on her bed, jareth watched her cover her face in her hands and could see her start to cry...

What the goblin king didn't know was that the minute she had spoken those six words that day ...another power had taken over..a power that was darker..instead of seeing her dreams she saw her nightmares...she was afraid to sleep..afraid to be on her own and was starting to believe she was going mad,in her dreams she was attacked by huge black birdlike creatures...locked in a black hole and left to starve...chased by evil imps and tortured..her memory of jareth and the labyrinth were fading as quickly as these terrors were appearing...sometimes his face appeared in her sleep and she tried to reach him..but she could never quite get to him..she could never remember the right words..the nightmares had started to twist her memories...and good memories of him were vanishing bit by bit being replaced with ideas of him wanting to kidnap her as his slave...she just didn't know what to believe.

She lifted her head and saw the owl still there...taking a deep breath she git up to open the window to try and scare it away...the owl however didn't move even when she tried to give it a nudge....instead it nuzzled her hand gently and just looked at her.."shoo..get away!!"she exclaimed but still the owl sat there... sarah looked back at the owl...how strange she thought that it had two coloured eyes..one was blue ans one was so brown it was almost black..nit being able to take her eyes of the owl she found herself stroking it  carefully..."looks like you don't want to attack me then.."she muttered just loud enough he could hear it..he rested his head on her hand as she looked sadly at him...gov  minutes later she closed the window..the owl didn't move and she realised it was still there when she woke up...

A week later the window stayed open and she didn't seem to shocked as the owl fluttered in and perched by her bed..instead of stroking him..she spoke to him..spilled her heart out to him about her dreams and how she feared she was losing her mind..the owl listened, never moving..trying to understand what had happened to her,if only she would  ask him for his help....how he wished he could call some goblins to nudge her mind..but that would probably push her over the edge...instead he tried to think of some way to get her to realise.

They spent a few more days like this...she treated the owl like a pet..and one day left it in her apartment as she went on some errands...leaving it a few minutes jareth quickly transformed to his normal self ,he stretched his limbs as he looked around her room..looking at photos of her family and smiling at the ones of Toby looking so grown up now he was nearly 5, he smiled as h  noticed how similar they looked..fair and lean in build..the mischievous look on his face  reminding jareth of himself at such a young age, he looked through some more bits and stopped as he saw something red underneath a pile.of photographs, pulling at it gently he saw it was a book ..not just any book but her labyrinth book. Perfect!  He smiled as he move  it onto her bed and turned it to a particular page..turning himself back to an owl he perched on top and waited...

Sarah returned a while later and go in  herself chuckling as she saw her new pet on her bed.."ahh you waited!.you're a funny bird..you could  be flying free but you sit here waiting for me!l she Crooned to it, "what you sitting on?" She reached  under him and found the book...."how did this get here??" She hadn't looked at this book for years..couldn't remember even bringing it to college..looking at the page..she read a few lines, she glanced at him with a confused look the went back to reading. "Think sarah...Think" he urged silently ...he flew up to land on her arm and pecked at the page.." I wish.....I wish..."she whispered...

"say it !!"  He urged with his eyes...pecking at the page....

"You're the goblin king" she gasped as she dropped the book an  the owl flew up so he was facing her .....she bent down and grabbed  the book..flicking through it.."jareth?"  Why did the name  seem so important?...she was so confused..was this just another part of her losing it? She looked at the bird..."if you're the goblin king ,why can't you transform like in the book??" She didn't understand....the owl kept swooping at her and pecking the book... something in her mind clicked and she felt like she  had call for him..she scanned the book looking for what to say..."I wish....I wish the goblin king was with me right now!" She yelled as the owl stopped sweeping round her and flew to the window.

What happened  next sarah couldn't quite believe yet it seemed so weirdly normal..she stood with her mouth open as a wind blew suddenly making her hold her hands to cover her face, it blew the drapes wildly and tossed papers round in her room..swirling up in a haze.....she peered through as instead of an owl ...a man stood there ...tall and fair...in tight black trousers and a billowing black top ,his hand  on his hips and a smile on his beautiful face...."Well well sarah..it took you long enough to put the piece together!" His smooth voice came....she couldn't speak..just stare..and was shocked as tears started to fall...jareth moved to her slowly..he pulled  her close to him and stroked her hair as she froze in his arms..."I've been waiting for you to call me here sarah...you've been asking for my help for a while now..you just needed to say the right words for me to crossover"

"I don't remember asking for you.." she replied...her voice  full of hesitation... "it was in your nightmares.." said the goblin king coolly....
