"Well I wanted to know if you're coming to the family lodge this, week for break." She said to me. "You know I don't think I can, I got so much work to get done..." I was saying till she interrupted. "No no no.. you're not getting out of this." She responded. "Will, do not bring that, it's too heavy and will weigh down the car." My said to my little brother. "Ma, I just got a lot going on.. I don't really have time." I told her. "You're not making an excuse to bail out of this." She told me then I heard her struggle with with the phone. "Let me guess your making an excuse to not come?" My sister Maya said. I groaned. Maya always on me about everything she's like my second mother. The door bell rang and Kalii ran downstairs. "It's the pizza babe." She said going to open the door. "Babe??!!! You got a little girlfriend?? Bring her?!" Maya said I could hear the excitement in her voice. "I gotta go.. I'll talk to you later. Bye." I said rushing off the phone, Kalii was standing behind me with the pizza. "Who was that?" She asked me. I hesitated. "Just family stuff. All good." I told her kissing her forehead then we went upstairs. My family is just a whole different step and I'm not jumping to take that so soon. We was sitting in my room and I got up to take a shower. Kalii I was laying on his bed studying for my classes when his phone rang, I wanted to let it just ring but it kept going and going like jeez how the fuck am I supposed to study. It stopped ringing then started again. "Babe?! Your phone!" I shouted from out the bathroom, he didn't answer , I know he can't hear me. I picked it up and seen who was calling, his Mom... I didn't know whether to pick up or not, what if it's an emergency. I hesitated.
